Default Ecommerce Programs/Merchant Accounts

Its been frustrating trying to find the best ecommerce software/web platforms and merchant accounts. Its ultra important to find a program that is up to date, SEO friendly, and uses modern usability platforms.

So far i've been using OScommerce with paypal but I'm dissapointed, everyone says to look into mambo.

I currently use ProStores (formerly Kurant StoreSense). It was bought by eBay, but so far they've not screwed with it, or imposed any restrictions on the types of things you can sell.

it's a shopping cart program that sits on a server. It requires being signed up with an online Credit Card authorization company (I use authorize.net), and a merchant bank/account. The program itself is nice for catalogs, and integrates listing things on eBay (surprise) very easily.

Default Paypal site integration.,

~

I am kind of in the same boat of looking for a good overall solution for orders, billing, record keeping and fulfillment for customers / clients.

So far I have been using PayPal on my sites and that is OK, but a bit tedious as it is not fully automated and integrated with fulfillment yet.

Mambo / Joomla is a web content management system, I believe and if you wanted to use it specifically for eCommerce it would need significant programming.

It seems to be more for web site / content management / creation (interface), but I'm sure is flexible enough to handle commerce / DB as well.

Since it (Joomla) is a free Opensource proggie there is plenty available on the 'net about it., we were considering it for a DB heavy site at one point.

My feeling is that there is something better, though we are not at the point where that is required just yet, though very soon.

Everything to date has been handled by PayPal (with some E-Bay interfacing as well), but again, the volume is low so far.

The next project that I am working on is going to require a much more robust AND fully automated system in place., so I am curious., VERY curious.,

Recently moved our main hosting over to Hostmonster which has AgoraCart available, but I have not played with it yet., looks good on the surface (oops, no Paypal?!?!).

Hostmonster also has CubeCart, OS Commerce and Zen Cart in their automated systems set-up routine for easy install and use (but again, have not tested).

If anyone else has any ideas to share or experience with some SW that might apply it could be very helpful., ;-)

Joomla + VirtueMart +PayPal = no SSL certificate and no merchant account required

Joomla + VirtueMart + Merchant Account = all you need

One of my muses is helping business integrate these solutions along with marketing planning and optimization testing.
