New here and want to get started!

Hi all! I'm a newbie here. I am still in the process of reading the 4HWW. It's similar to other things I've read, but it does have a lot more "Action" items than the other things, so that is good!

I am anxious to get started! But I always am when I read something new, and then my motivation dies. Any ideas of how to keep up the motivation?

I think the biggest motivator for me is getting out of my cube. I was not born to work in an office.

I have some ideas, but I'm having trouble focusing on one! I don't know which is the best, or if any are good at all. So, that is what I'm working on now.

All I know is that I HAVE to do this. I don't want to waste any more of my life sitting in this gray cube.

Print out some quotes or some pictures that will keep you motivated. Write down exactly what your goals are and how excited you are to be doing something about getting out of your gray cube. If you keep this little motivational notebook or something handy and look at it whenever you are doubting yourself or in need of a kick, it should remind you what you are working towards.

That's really simple but it works for me. Oh, and think about the fat guy in the red BMW! (if you've gotten there in the book)

You sound like you're in a similar situation to me - I'm still in the office and counting down the days until I hand my notice in

I have FAR too many ideas to think about at the moment with such a small amount of free time outside of work so it's a matter of priorities for me

I know the most important thing for me is getting out of my job so that I have more time for working on other projects, and for this reason, the idea that I'm starting with is the one that I know can guarantee me money in a relatively short amount of time

This first 'muse' is NEVER going to make me rich, but it is going to give me the financial security to quite my job and spend some time doing what I want to do (which will include starting a whole load more muses)

Also I've found that spending 30 minutes on Flickr.com searching for photos of the places I'll be going in the new year works as a really good motivator for me

Jon, how did you go about deciding which muse would be the one to guarantee that you make money?

I am the same way. There's something that I want to work on that will be more fun, but I need to start making money first to free up time to do that.

Sometimes I think I'm living in a dream world thinking I can actually make money without doing much work, but what the hell. I'm willing to dream.

Plus, I know there are others that have done it. I'm no different than them.

I just need to make myself take action. And now.

I also don't have a lot of time outside of work. (I have 2 small children, a husband, house to take care of, etc.) But I'm willing to get some things done at work. Shhh...don't tell.

Well, I don't think anything is guaranteed. I'm working on mine and still have doubts. That's what the testing is about. So I just chose something I know worked out some details, am making a website and will test it. It could bomb, it could take off, it could simmer. Who knows?

Well I currently work as a web devloper and do a small amount of freelance work on the side without actively looking for it.

I know I'll be able to get more work when I actually start marketing my services as my prices and service are more than competitive so this is going to be my guaranteed income to start with

By adding some of the 4HWW techniques in to the mix, I can also minimise the time spent actually working and focus on new muses.

I'm currently just in the process of building up a bit of 'security' money so I have the balls to hand my notice in!

Try thinking of ways you might have made money in the past without a job, and then think how you could expand this to support yourself and family in the short term
