Default Please, give me an opinion on my muse

Hi all,
i've made a website for my muse, i did by myself and i know that it sucks, because i'm not very good at doing websites and marketing them.

Before that i start to try to drive targeted traffic on it,can you give me you opinion?

Every advice will be welcome.

if you know that it sucks, why would you even try to get traffic to the site? apart from the long text, where is the call to action button? start by updating your blog more, so people see you're a serious investor. lots of typo's also.

why you did it in weebly?

hey dade... this is an area I have followed for a long time and can probably help you quite a bit with as I sort out the 'what works' bit myself.

Obviously lots to do with th site but.... how are you intending to make money off of it?

Default Some suggestions from a web designer

Hi Dade71 --

I'm not a trader by any stretch of the imagination, but here are some observations on your site that might be helpful. Generally, people who come to your site need to understand the basic idea of what you're offering within about 10 seconds or they will leave. When writing for the web, "less is more." get them hooked at the top your home page, then they will want to know more and can drill down into the page/site. Journalism uses a method of writing called the inverted pyramid that can be a useful place to start.

Your offering:
When people find their way to your site, they are going to want to know what your product or service is, or that they have come to the right place (assuming they followed an ad or link that described your service). The top of your home page (the area "above the fold" that shows up onscreen upon page load) should have a clear description of your product/service, and value proposition (why people should buy it), and a clear call to action as Robbie mentioned above (More about this in a moment).

Suggestion: Start with an elevator pitch, if you had to describe your service in a sentence or two to someone in an elevator, what would you say. Try it out on friends to try to refine it down as simply as possilbe. Perhaps it would include something about your newsletter based on an effective system for trading the DAX 30 and give some stats as to that success. The service you are offering is to do all of the number crunching and provide the results so your audience can benefit from your work (for which they pay you).


Audience
I'm presuming that people who would search for or use your site already have some experience with the DAX 30. Opening your site with a description of what the DAX 30 is, is probably going to make them think that this is an educational site of some kind and not worth their time. If you're trying to target a niche, you want to attract people who are already educated in the topic.

Suggestion: having background information on the DAX 30 is probably helpful for complete newbies, which if you'd like to convert them to customers, I'd recommend simply having a link (either a side-bar link to something like "About the DAX 30" or more simply, linked text the first time you mention the DAX 30 in a sentence. Alternatively, include a FAQ section to your site) so that if they want to find out more about it they can. The point is, if you're trying to close a sale, you want to give actual customers enough info at the start of the page to know that they're in the right place and aren't going to waste their time.


Welcome
It's great that you're a DAX 30 trader but it's probably not what I would want to see at the start of your site. You do want to reinforce your credentials as to why people should take your advice and therefore sign up for your newsletter. Suggestion: include an About Me/Us section on your site and give details as to your background and qualifications so people can explore more about you if they choose (usually after they understand what your offering and are looking for some reassurance that you know what you're talking about).


Text:
I'm not sure if English is your first language, but a few grammatical mistakes gives me the impression that this is not a "legitimate" site. The biggie here is the section headline "How does it works?" (should it be "How does it work" or "How it works"??) and in the following paragraph, "Anyone who subscribes my newsletter will receive every day an email with my trade levels for the next day and in case other emails about the current trade." That sentence is a bit of a killer, convoluted and difficult to fully understand. In general

Suggestion: create an outline of the information your audience needs to know and hire a writer who can write native english. See 4hww for tips such as using elance etc.


Give examples
You might consider providing past samples of your newsletter (excerpts, screen grabs, whatever) to show people what they can expect to get when they sign up. Testimonials of people who have used your advice/method and been successful will also help.


Call to action
This is what you want people to do and needs to be prominent on the page, usually with a button of some kind, and should be visible near the top of the page. Apparently your call to action is to join the newsletter. Here's the copy you have at the bottom of your home page (way to far down the page for people to find, let alone read):
Click here to join to my newsletter or if you need more informations feel free to write me to my email dax30signals@gmail.com, i'll try to answer as soon as possible.

My progress will be showed in my Blog
A few problems here:
  • "if you need more informations" bad grammar again("if you need more information")
  • Hopefully by the time someone is ready to click your call to action, they don't need any additional information. Try out your text on friends to refine it to the point where people can understand the offering quickly so that they don't have any more questions.
  • "I'll try to answer as soon as possible" - really doesn't sound professional. Sounds like you're running this out of your apartment on a catch-as-catch-can basis. This doesn't build confidence that if I pay you to subscribe to your newsletter, that I'll actually receive it.
  • My progress will be showed (grammar: shown) in my blog - what progress? why is this important to me as a customer? Sounds like you're doing this as a hobby so I'm not going to send money to support your hobby.

Overall, you've completely undersold your call to action (actually you've "un-sold it": if I was going to sign up before, I definitely won't now).

Suggestion: Definitely hire a writer, someone with some marketing experience.


Design:
While it's not horrible, it feels more like a blog site than a professional sales site. Consider hiring a freelance designer to build your site for you once you have your offering ironed out and text refined.

I hope you find this helpful. While I don't think your site is "ready for the public" just yet, it's good to have a stake in the ground that you can test out on friends etc. to see if your message is getting through.

Thank you all for your replies, especially to Quisp who gave me a lot of points of relection.

It's clear that i'm not good at english,i'll try to review the website using your suggestions but i think that hire someone who cares about the website it's the best option, i'll have a look but if someone has to suggest me some good writer you'll be welcome.

In few word the service that i offer is giving trading levels for trading this futures: you receive the email with the levels for the next day and you have only to insert the orders without worrying to watch the market or follow long and complicated analys.

I came to this idea, because Tim suggests in his book to start thinking about our muses from something that we do, as far as i'm a trader i thought that it could be a good start.

hi dade,

Just a couple quick suggestions..

The main page comes off a little too wordy for me. If I were just browsing the internet, I'd say that it's pretty unlikely that I'd read through everything. You might want to incorporate bold/italics/underline to draw the reader's attention to specific areas of the site(particularly what they have to gain by reading your newsletter). I'd also like to see charts of proven results. I'd like to see more reasoning as to why I should trust you. What makes you an expert at this?

A site similar to yours that has had fair success is https://www.technicalindicatorindex.com/Default.asp (I'm in no way connected to this site). It's not the best site I've ever seen, but it does a pretty good job of drawing the readers attention and establishing credibility.

I read through your content and I would suggest that you have someone do a thorough proofread or hire a writer to help you convey the message you want on your home page. You can use a service like elance, freelance, or VAs out of the Philippines. There are other sites suggested throughout the forums here that can get you going with some help.

More importantly, how do you intend to get visitors to your site?

Hi Justin,
thank you for your suggestion, i updated the website putting in bold some words that i thought interesting. As far as regards my progress in trading i've set a blog where i post my trades ; i was thinking to make the trial period free and put a refund for unsatified subscribers...

maybe this is the only way for someone who doesn't speak english very well like me. Have you to suggest me some writer?

To drive traffic on my site i was thinking of writing some article and post on specialized forums because i want to drive very targeted traffic...
