In order to qualify a customer as a sale, is it necessary to ask for credit card details?
I ask this because at the moment, I have the sales letter for the landing page, which leads interested users to a second page where the price is revealed and their personal details are asked (name, phone, email). From here, the third page shows the back-order message. I am wondering if it's important to ask the customer to enter credit card info, therefore ensuring that they are genuine sales. Thank you for any help

Hi, Smiley. I am in the same phase of testing as you are. I don't think it is good to ask for credit card info right now - security problems and stuff that is not worth messing with at this point, until you see if the tests work out well. What I did was tried to collect as much info other than that as I could, thinking that if they are filling out all this, plus they know the price, they are probably pretty serious. I asked for name, email, asked them to create a username and password (I said they would need that to download their ebook later, but really I was just trying to pad out the page and make it look official) and then I asked how they would like to pay. I gave them a dropdown menu of Visa, MC, Amex, and Disc. Then, after all that, I put a continue button (which lead to the backorder page.) I figured if they were still with me at this point, they were getting ready to put in their CC number, and I feel pretty confident that they could be a customer. I hope that idea helps!

Nice one Sunshine! Your strategy does warrant it to be tested. Thanks for that
