Web site creation tools?

For those of you have recently built your own "muse" web sites, which web development tool did you use and why?

I am currently looking at tools from ibuilt, ewisoft and x2cms. I like the fact that some of these include hosting, support, email and ecommerce (credit cards processing) all in one easy package. Any experience with these?

The tool you recommend, looks better than most I have seen in my investigation. Might try out one of those trials

It's a bit overwhelming evaluating all these different web builders. Many more than I had thought, from basic and free, to the stuff the pros use, with dozens (or more) in between. Some seem to be very specialized on one type of site or another. Throw in things like hosting, tech support, shopping carts and widely varying prices and the water gets deep quick...

Even the sites that claim to review these type of tools, come across as bias, strangely contradictory and only review a small number of the tools that seem to be out there.

To all of you out there who have successfully gotten your first site up and running, I have new and much higher level of admiration!

I use xsitepro for creating all of my websites (have been for years), it is pretty much as easy as using word – no HTML needed and search engine optimizing your website is as simple as filling in some blanks. They also have a good forum, so if you can’t figure out how to do something - then all you would need to do is post a question and someone will usually answer it pretty quickly.

Unless you are building extremely complicated websites you really don’t need to learn HTML, it’s like going to engineering school so you can learn how to change the oil in your car - Most of the people that learn HTML and other web languages (even though there are great programs that take the complicated aspects out of it) do so because:

-They just don’t know that there are software packages out there that do everything for you

-They think (wrongfully) that you have to have “wizard like” skills to make web pages

-They already have an IT background so it is pretty easy for them to learn another programming language

But even people like me that have an IT background don’t want to do all of the tedious work to search optimize a website or the lines and lines of code required to make a website. Plus it takes FOREVER to make a website in straight HTML.
