Hi Everyone,
2009 was a successful year for me. I learned a huge amount about muse marketing and sales, and am ready to build upon my knowledge and really grow my business this year. I have about $1000 a month coming in - which means I have $1000 to spend on leveraging the knowledge I have gained to grow my business faster. There are a couple of things that were paramount for my success last year:
Desire: You know what it is like to be 'in the zone', and accomplish large tasks easily, without distraction? Do you check on yourself to see if you are in or out of 'The Zone'. Do you have specific techniques to move yourself back into 'The Zone' when you have fallen out of it. Learning to maintain a motivated state of mind, believing I can do this, and not procrastinating, are my biggest achievements of 2009. Organization I was horrible at this. I probably spend too much time organizing, because I am still new to it. I am learning to trust the systems that I have in place. I document a lot! I can get a good looking site up and running in 3 hours. I have relationships with content writers and designers. I have learned to trade money for time and manage projects. Prioritization You only get paid when the job is done. No one can sell 1/2 a product, or expect people to buy from 1/2 a sales page. Pick the most important thing that moves you closer to getting paid, and do it until it is done. Then, work on the next thing. I only allow myself 2 open tasks at a time now. I have a ton of stuff I want to do, and its on hold until I do the stuff I NEED to do. I want to launch about 5 new sites, but I need to get my site ranked #1 for my keywords first....prioritize. Wishing You all the best in 2010. Network Memetics |

Good post. I'm moving from dollars to hours in my business to sharing what I know via info marketing. I have always done my websites myself, using iWeb (I know, not exactly the best, but I do a good job and get great compliments). Trouble is, when I need a website w/ shopping cart, I can't do that alone, don't know how, and I need more functionality than iWeb offers (duh). And I shouldn't be creating websites anyway - not my area of expertise, so I really should outsource.
You said you have excellent relationships with developers and content writers. Did you find these people through eLance? Can you make some recommendations? I'm not sure how to start working with graphic designers or website developers and I have precious little money to waste on learning, so I'd like to cut the curve a little if I can. Your advice is much appreciated. |

Nice post...keep it going.
I'm looking at the Parkinson's Law and setting short term, measurable goals. I've had the "talk" with my Broker, AOK to shift work model. Talk with team tomorrow, then shift to virtual agent.... I have desire locked in place....so many places to go, things to do, people to meet! The work in front of me this week is Automation and Outsourcing! |

Sick post. Last year, after I read the 4HWW I was really gung-ho about it. The initial motivation died and I feel back into my unproductive ways.
These things that you've done in 2009 are the things I'm going to focus on in 2010, thanks for the suggestions. |

Re: Outsourcing
I read these lessons, then didn't follow them, then learned them the hard way! Lets say you want 20 articles created and you don't know anyone yet. Find 4 people to write 5 articles. Evaluate the quality of the work, AND the time to manage the project with each person. If you find someone, don't just ask for more artilces, develop a relationship with them...I tell the article writers..quality first. If they are going to be a day late, but tell me in advance, it is never a problem. If they miss the deadline and fail to contact me, I may not use them again. It is hit and miss...but once I find someone, I keep them on file. You will spend more time searching for the workers, and more time managing the projects, when you divy up the project into smaller pieces, but you are more likely to find a great outsourcer when you do. Articles are funny. I have finally found people who write a good article for $5, when some people will pay $10 for the same quality. NM |

You need to eliminate this type of sentence from your vocabulary ![]() Money is not wasted on learning, it is an investment in yourself. You pay in money, or you pay in time, or both. The more money you spend, the less time you spend. You can find cheap, good service on elance, warriorforum, etc, but you just have to go out and do it, take the action, and analyze the results. You will pay in time to find good people. I don't have a good cheap graphic designer yet....but I do have several article writers. NM |

I'd love to eliminate that sentence from my vocabulary, trust me. I'm working on it. But while funds are still severely limited, I'd like to learn from the experience of others as much as possible so that I can avoid making the same mistakes (and instead make different mistakes...I know, there's no way around some level of failure when learning something new). Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated! |
