Default Statistics on google, wordtracker and mnf not making sense

Does anybody else find statistics that don't make sense?

Sometimes when I'm researching niches for what i'm doing i get statistics that don't make sense. I find this really frustrating and it's not great for momentum when i'm doubting the statistics i'm basing my websites on.

One example would be exact phrase counts not matching up with what i'm manually putting into google.

Another common big one would be on certain keywords Local Search Count is greater than Global Search Count.

With how much salt should i take the stats I'm getting?

Any reasons why stats don't match up sometimes?

Cheers for any help or feedback.

The Stats are guidelines. Pages are constantly shuffled between the index and supplemental index....due to the QDF factor of new content, the index is in a constant state of flux.

Also some tools are using proxies to reach different data centers - so each data center may be reporting slightly differently.

The best bet is to bid for adwords traffic for your keywords and see what kind of impressions you get. As long as you are on the first page, you will get a rough idea of the search count.

Nothing is perfect - eyeball it and move on.
