Question Cheap 5-star restaurants?

Just finished my first reading of the book: enlightening, for sure. I really want to put his techniques to the test as soon as possible.

Anyway, I got really puzzled when he states he could get two meals at 5-star restaurants in Berlin for $18. Now, I believe he can get cheap airfare (coach, I suppose), I also believe he can get cheap apartments with enough bargaining, but restaurants?
I love good food and good wines and my wife happened to live in Berlin for 3 months in 2004 attending a master. We went to several fine dining restaurants when she was there but we payed $18 just for sitting and drinking (tap) water! Can you really negotiate the price at a 5-star restaurant?

It could have been a combination of many things: exchange rate at the moment. A 5 star quality resturant without the 5 star prices (have been to those), getting special deal because he made friends with the right people. It's been a while since I've read the book (got it from the library) so I don't remember what he said but I do know that it is possible to top quality things for great prices under the right circumstances.

Default What's the point in that?

Lovinglife, I know a guy who slept with Monica Bellucci once: he's nothing special, neither super-rich nor super good-looking, just a very plain, ordinary man; but if you can't replicate the same experience, the information is pretty much useless, if you know what I mean.

Tim's book is full of useful and practical tips but bragging "I've done this" without further explanations is not on par with the rest and definitely lame.

It's a mindset. I hesitate to mention Law of Attraction because it's a "trendy" and some people thing a new-age term. But it isn't. I can tell you how I got a free week long cruise and how I got free hotels for both Mardi Gras and New Orleans. I can also tell you how I got a free week stay at a beach front condo in the Bahamas. But how I did it were circumstances that would not work for you. I can't really explain to you how a friend of mine has the ability to come across high dollar items (designer clothing with tags still on them, collectable art work) for just a few dollars each. Heck, she just picked up a perfectly fine, full-size working piano for $60 this past weekend.

The list could go on and on but the circumstances and items were unique to the people receiveing them. But what wasn't/isn't unique is the mindset and the willingness to be open and take chances and opportunities.

Don't know if that made any sense.

Default Try me

Why don't you share your experience anyway? Maybe I can't replicate it, but I would try to understand this "mindset".

I envision what I want and see my self at/doing/having whatever it is. Keep a positve mindset that one way or another it will happen/show up. I then keep an open mind and the opportunities eventually show up and not necessarily how you might normally expect them.

I had wanted to visit Jamacia and New Orleans. Then the guy I was dating landed a job in which his boss paid for my airfare and a weeks cruise with one of the ports being Jamaica. The boss also picked up the tab for hotel room in a very nice (and expensive) hotel in NO twice (original post should have said NO for Mardi Gras and New Year's Eve). So, you too, could find a way to go on a cruise for free or get free hotel rooms but something tells me that probably won't be by dating my ex-boyfriend lol.

House well below market value, certificates or discounts for resturants (some very nice), travel, and a myriad of other things have come my way simply because I have the mindset that it will happen and I just need to be aware and ready to take action when the opportunities arise (I was in NO in less than 24 hrs after finding out the boss would pay for a large room for both of us along with access to a sold-out party at a club if I wanted to meet them there). It's basically a positive mindset combined with keeping your eyes and mind open.

Anyhow, I am off to take care of things. Was offered a free opportunity for my child today that would be perfect for her and I have to see if I can sqeeze into our schedule (still working on the time managment bit) and I promised to do her nails tonight because we're being treated to lunch tomorrow.

Default Good approach to life

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm happy for you! And, no, I'm not considering changing my sexual orientation at the moment besides, I can't afford a bloody expensive divorce right now!

Monica said she would never betray the love that was ours...a pure and golden love that shined like the brightest Aztec gold.

That shameless hussy...I can't believe she blabbed.
