different types of webpages

gosh i have a billion questions. Thank you in advance for reading and replying.

Now its a quick one, what is the reason behind a webpage like these (with all the white, yellow black and massive sales spiel)

Is there any particular reason for doing the first one, do they sell more than a "yahoo store" type website? are they better for SEO? IS it just a matter of testing which works best for which product?

I have been wondering about the same. I think the first option is better for single product muses.

Sales pages are good for selling a customer on the benefits of a product and closing the deal. If you have a product that people are familiar with and can buy from multiple sources and you are either cheaper, have a better selection, offer better service, etc then you really don't have to do much more selling to do in order to close a deal, and a simple faq page and a few product descriptions will probably be enough.

For new product introductions and any type of information products especially an effective way to get someone to buy is through selling them on the benefits of the product through sales copy. Sales copy is a good way to qualify prospects, because if they are willing to sit through and read through everything you have to say about your product then not only are they more likely to make that first purchase, but now you've establish a relationship where they trust your opionion and would likely purchase other products from you in the future.

Menu Driven site

I have answered this question dozens of times so I thought I'd blog it and the links are to those answers. With a sales letter you normally will use lots of ppc and having a good list is pretty crucial. A menu driven site earns more search engine equity. Deciding which one depends on your product and target audience. I would say in your case, that a menu driven site would work best.

oooh i'll be famous

okay. i will let you know. i'm being rather cautious at the moment, possibly over cautious trying to work out which angle to take ie. yahoo stores vs wordpress vs sitebuildit etc etc. starting the 30 day challenge this week so it will be do or die very shortly!

If you're doing ecommerce, yahoo stores. Those stores index GREAT.

The spotlight awaits zoeinthecity. Actually, I'm not expecting that I'm going to have results by next week. <grin> This stuff takes a while.

Personally, I hate the sales letter type site. I can't think of a single thing I've ever bought from a site like that, and I buy something practically every day online.
