Cool Niche

Don't waste time trying find a muse, instead let a muse find you. Look at your own life, what social or professional groups you belong to or understand, then think about what you as a member of that group need, want, or would otherwise spend money on. Think about what subjects you know a lot about that relate directly to these groups and start jotting down ideas on how you could teach these subjects or skills to others. Start with an ebook because they are more cost effective to produce and distribute than a dvd, and if there is a market for the ebook then use the money you make to create a dvd. Remember to test the muse before you invest in it. Either with an early-ending ebay listing, or with a webpage test run. Remember to set yourself apart from all the crap that's out there by making a quality product. Don't just throw together a bunch of crap that anyone can google and call it a life-changing ebook. Put your heart into it and make it a worthwhile product. And don't expect the "build it and they will come" to happen either. You will spend money and time on marketing, so keep that in mind throughout. If you start to get discouraged....read tims book some more, or go get one of tims suggested reading: "The magic of thinking big" by dr david schwartz(That's probably the tenth time I've mentioned this book in this forum because it truly is a good read.)

Hang in there, ask lots of questions, keep us all updated with how things go.

I agree- but further, what are you passionate about? Find something you really want to help people find information about, and further educate yourself on the market. It's fun to become an expert on something you love

Default Perfection is the enemy of Good Enough

Hi - I'm new here, but I wanted to add my own two cents. 4HWW has been a huge inspiration to me. I really enjoyed Tim's writing style and think the MUSE idea is a great one. Here are some of my suggestions:
  1. Don't choose ONE 'best' muse
  2. Find several SMALLER muses that are easy to maintain
  3. Invest in each MUSE as you can
  4. Determine which muse will be the most enjoyable/profitable
  5. FOCUS all of your energy/resources on that SINGLE MUSE

Hope this helps!! Quickness is the Key

Default Thanks...I might have something

I want to thank everyone for everything

I have stumbled across an idea and wanted to run it by everyone.

I have the opportunity to make a site that sells cellular accessories, i know these are the big high end products, but there is good margin in them. I have two local companys that will drop ship products for me as well.

Think I should go for it? I guess it comes down to I am needing so reassurance i suppose. what is your take on it?

Sure, but cellular accessories for whom? Can you define a target market? Because just cellular accessories (for everyone) would put you up against a ton of big players - you want to cater to a specific market. HTH!

Post The key is testing several 4HWW Muses

I agree with what Simpleware said. Most people focus WAY too much on coming up with one super magic idea. They don't test their idea for profitability... and then they wonder why they failed.

Instead you need to be testing several muse ideas - let the market decide which one is profitable and should be pursued.

The key is to test muses quickly and cheaply because only 2 out of 10 muse ideas end up profitable.

You need to:
  • Test muse ideas in such a way that quickly eliminates unprofitable ideas and limits potential downside.
  • Test the market demand for your product BEFORE you spend all the time and money creating the full product.
  • Don't be afraid to fail - it is a necessary stepping stone to a succssful online business. Fail early, fail often.

I wrote a free quick-start guide on how to create and test 4HWW Muse Ideas on just $16 per month
