Default Tracking ID w/ Paypal Buy Now Button?

Hi, I'm curious, I have a method to do this but wonder if there's an easier way. I want to pump traffic from PPC through my custom payment gateway on my website. It's basically just a simple buy now button.

Then I want to see which ads are producing the sales. Basically I'll stuff a tid parameter on the end of the URL link for each ad. Then write a cookie when they land on my page then count that cookie if they make it through to the sale completed page.

But I'm curious, does paypal have a feature that I don't know of which could handle this for me? I'd prefer to just see something in my paypal account... I think google checkout will let me stuff additional parameters on and save them in the google checkout merchant account...

Anyways, I'm just curious if there's a slick way to track these customers.... FYI my page I'm going to be tracking ads to is www.fitlish.com/fitlishfeet

Thanks!!!!

Very good question here. I don't know the answer 100%, but I suspect PayPal lets you pass custom variables to the order form, and you can then probably pass those same variables back to your web download page, which you can capture for analytics.

I ended up using cookies. My code is messy. I should probably make a nifty little wordpress plug-in to handle it.

However, the code works but my sales copy doesn't lol nobody has bought yet...

Your copy could use a lot of work. Start with your preheadline and headline. They need to be tighter + invoke more curiosity.

I basically can't even tell what you are offering from a first glance.

Yeah I need to fix it. I've made about 100 versions.

It's basically a DVD with tons of self foot massage techniques. The DVD is targeted to barefoot / minimal footwear audience.

For bonuses it shows how to make your own barefoot shoes, and has a hour training on how to avoid issues with footware.
