Hi Everyone!
I hope all who are reading this are doing well. I, like many here, have read or are reading Tim's book and it has sent my mind reeling with possibilities. I do have one specific question for my first post here that I am hoping someone can help me answer. The set-up requires a bit of explanantion so bear with me. I am an amateur race car driver (among other things). As some may know, racing a car can be expensive and a natural way to help with funding is to get sponsorships. The problem is that potential sponsor organizations are inundated with requests. Often, outside of the major professional names, the most they'd be willing to help someone like me is with a discount or free parts. But let's face it, I need cash. I had been able to fund my racing for the past two years but with a new baby and a slow economy, I do not have the extra cash this year. My family needed the money so I sold my race car. Still, should I let that stop my dreams and passion for racing?? Nope. So I came up with an idea. What if instead of pleading my case to a corporate sponsor I went to private funding?? Specifically a successful, well-known professional racer that was once in my position at the beginning of his/her career and may have needed similar help at one time. Think about it, the amount of money I am talking about would seem like little to the millions they make (I estimate I could get started with $70-100K). So here is where my question comes in and how this ties to VAs. While reading Tim's book I was thinking that a VA firm may be able to help me in two areas here: 1) writing a compelling proposal for me to present to my target audience (a select group of well-known professional drivers) and 2) get me in direct contact with these drivers so that I can put my proposal directly in front of them....not in front of their agents or PR people but in front of the actual person I will be asking to help me. Anyway, I looked at a couple of VA sites and it seems a bit hard to sift through all their services to determine if they could help. I thought about posting my "task" on Elance as well but once I began the process of posting the task I found it difficult to determine which category it should go into. Does anyone here have some advice for me and can point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any help or feedback ![]() -Aaron |
