Wow, you're back! And what timing! The forum is on a low information diet.

Or should I say a low information dead?

Definitely dead! Pretty sad. This was a good forum, but people move on pretty quick.

Tim seems to have put a bullet in the forum by shutting down the ability for most people to post. Us oldies are allowed. But the mass isn't critical. So forum kinda dies.

It was due to spam, but it is a weak solution.

But he owns the forum. He can do as he likes.

Great to have you back, Kam. What have you been up to since you last posted?

Spent a half year in Singapore, might of had that going on last time I posted, not worth the time to look up. At the end of 2010, I got to spend a month learning how to make shochu, the Japanese distilled drink. Awesome time, and I learned a ton.

I got tired of being on the road all the time, and wanted a baby, so I stuck around my city, and got a job at a local ranch. First time I punched a time card in well over a decade. That lasted 3 months. I fell off a spooked horse, broke a few ribs, and decided that cleaning up horse shit sucked.

Since then, I have been doing a lot of public speaking. Mostly focused on horse therapy and personal development. I do some freelance book editing as well (I love seeing my name in print), while finding my talent for pointing out errors, continuity mistakes, and bad grammar, is very appreciated and suited to being an editor/proofreader.

I also was able to make one of my 2011 goals happen:

We went for a walk in the forest yesterday and hunted takenoko, one of my favorite things about spring in Japan .

That's excellent news, Kam. Many congratulations! The new addition to your family is exceedingly cute. Might take them a while to get through dinner though.

Cracked a rib once - blimey that was painful enough.

I am not on here so much because the response to the spammers seems to have killed the once lively discussion and life is too busy elsewhere. I did finally manage to create a muse which could replace my day job if I wanted (not that stable or diversified income though and I enjoy my day job).

Yep. Damaged ribs suck. I also injured the surrounding muscle. The time off was good for me though. It really brought things into perspective. I made serious money in Singapore, and took an 80% pay cut working back in Japan. Being a pizza consultant isn't a bad gig, but being away from the fam for over half a year is not anything I would like to repeat, especially with the new addition.

On an unrelated note, I did the subtitles for this video. It went viral a few months back and people are attributing the Burning Man 2012 sell out to it.

Wow, this forum really died.

That's a cool video kamakiri, good job on the subs - that's usually a lot more work than it looks.
