Well, about 3 years after I saw Tim on Diggnation I finally got around to reading Tim's book. It was exactly what the doctor ordered, knowing that someone else has had success in my goal lifestyle design was an "awesome" moment for me.
I successfully ran my first muse when I was just 15, since I was Homeschooled(Starting 8th grade for health reasons(overweight and asthma) ) and addicted to world of warcraft I started selling Characters on World of Warcraft which allowed me to buy my first car. This continued for a couple years and I started to sell gold. The experience was amazing and I wouldn't change it for the world, meeting so many people around the world doing something I loved at the time was very gratifying and honestly the highlight of my life. Thankfully my addiction and the need for these services stopped before my senior year in high school and I started what I'd like to call my life adventure. Being incredibly overweight since a child, I got a gym membership and started Body Building when i was 17 at around 260lbs, and refused to eat fast food and drink soda everyday (the only diet of my parents) over the course of a year I lost around 100lbs and was down to 175lbs, my asthma was simply gone and I could actually run a mile for the first time since 3rd grade, instead of walking with those cute girls who always felt bad for me. Being held back by my weight and health problems for most of my life and simply changing it in under a year was a "holy shit" moment for me, and greatly increased my interest in health. During my senior year I enrolled in an EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician) course at my local Community College, passing the course and practicals plus the national examination I was granted my NREMT-B Certificate. I volunteered at a rural ambulance station in my state and started working as a Patient Care Technician. Currently I've been attending my Community College for a year and after this year I will be getting my Associate of Science degree, with the up most intention to transfer and major in one of the sciences (Biology) and transferring to medical school. Throughout this venture and pretty much everyday in my college life I have something happening, either with family(My dad has a alcohol/depression problem recently causing my Parents to divorce after 25 years), relationships(Girlfriends), school(Classes,Teachers) numerous things I zone out daily because it's all random clutter. Needless to say without all of this I don't think I would be the person I am today, I've learned an incredible amount from the "random clutter". And I already share it with most of my friends in conversation, genuinely people can't understand how I made the turn around from a 260lb night and day gamer to someone who now has a 3.5 GPA and is aspiring to be a doctor. Now I'll get to the blog part, would a blog focused on the everyday life of an aspiring doctor get attention? Where would I draw the line with what I post on my blog? I'm an incredibly open and honest person but I also realize this could draw others away. I was going to start writing a book but i feel it would be never ending as I'd have way to many things constantly popping up to add to it! I was actually going to start a Video Game Supplement Muse a while ago and after reading Tim's book I started the idea back up but found it's already been done with little success, probably due to the fact people question taking any form of Pill because they think it's a "drug". I thought the same way when I first started lifting weights. Any input on this is appreciated, especially if someone has a really successful blog! I want to start the page correctly, so far I've looked at word pad and typepad but purchasing a blog software isn't out of the option. I do have adobe creative suites and started using it again with my muse supplement idea, I also started reading on SEO optimization. Is there a way to use SEO for a blog on typepad or wordpad? Thanks to all responses, James Last edited by jcyochum; 08-14-2011 at 10:24 PM. |
