Default Paperless Systems - Pixily.com feedback?

I'm currently using earthclassmail.com, and love it. I also have a Scansnap S1500 that I'm planning to sell soon (the S1300 is about to come out, it's much more portable etc).

I'm moving towards a paperless life, with the bare minimums (passport, birth certificate, titles/deeds, and checks) being stored in a tiny safe in my house.

However, I have 1000+ pages to scan/OCR and want to outsource this process. I am checking out Pixily.com, and they appear to offer a good service. I think their recurring plans are a bit pricey for what I get (can store the same amount of docs on Amazon S3 + Jungledisk for $1.50/month) and I think their scanning rates are very pricey.

Does anyone have experience with Pixily OR another secure, friendly, cheap document imaging service that they recommend? Thanks!

Give a neibourhood kid a superscanner for free if he does the job for you!

Default I like Pixily - but I'm biased

Hi Merlin,

I liked Pixily so much I joined the company and am now the head of marketing. So, I'm pretty biased. But I was one of the first beta users and really got into the product.

I like to keep paper but don't have time to do the scanning; it's really a question of the value of your time, I think. I know some people are able to be happy doing the scanning themselves (someone even once told me they did it while watching TV) but I'd rather have someone else do it if possible.

We do have bulk scanning, which is 9.5 cents per image for non-blank side. It includes two way shipping and OCR. We also have the free trial, if you are interested in seeing the quality of our work without actually having to put in a credit card. I'm pretty sure either option is cheaper than going to a local copy shop, but the real question is would you rather do it on your own since you already have a scanner.

You can call me if you have any questions - our number is on our website, but it's 888-674-6493.

Anyway, good luck going paperless!
