As are many of you, I'm always interested in having multiple income streams. I've got a few things in development, and am working with a small group of entrepreneurs on a number of other things.

I know that many of you are involved with affiliate programs, and I wanted to get your thoughts on this - which is not exactly an affiliate program:

http://www.newenglandpowermall.com

It's something that anyone can start instantly and get out of it whatever they want to put in, while essentially capturing an affiliate percentage rebate from over 1000 stores like Best Buy, Home Depot, Target, etc. - so there is no selling or inventory or outsourcing - it's COMPLETELY automated. Anyway, I thought it might be of interest to y'all. I found out about it (of all places) from my parents, after having sent them 4hww in the summer.

I did check with Marcie (the moderator) before posting about this - I'm not trying to sell anyone anything or spam the forum. She said it was fine as long as I wasn't selling anything. I'm not. It's free. And I thought if anybody would like a free automated outsourced program, it was this lot!

Thanks!
Kevin

I'm not sure what everyone is averaging on ppc costs, but My Power Mall is also a place you could potentially market your muses for zero pay per click cost. You'd have to agree to a discount for whatever purchases were made through MPM. Depending on what you've got, price point, ppc costs, etc. - you might end up coming out ahead. Plus, there are over 100,000 members shopping in their "malls" every month that would see your muses.

They currently have agreements in place with three major online solution managers- Commission Junction, LinkShare, and Performics (DoubleClick). So if you're already processing with one of these, you could get your muse in front of MPM's members pretty quickly.

Cheers,
Kevin

I have no idea why you'd use mpm. There are lots of other affiliate services that don't cost you anything, while mpm seems to have some requirements.

Don't be fooled into thinking that if you put up a big shopping site that thousands of people will instantly start using it. You need to create something new or have some added advantage to really have a success.

Here is why-

It's one more independent income stream. I've got other things going - and more in development - but MPM works differently than affiliate programs because it allows others to sign up through your site and you get a piece of their shopping too (while they get back a chunk of their own shopping)- and anyone who signs up through their site gets the same deal while you continue to get a piece of their shopping - and so forth for nine levels of malls... So, if someone less interested in affiliate website set-ups or muses gets interested somewhere down the line and decides to build a business or find non-profits who wish to use the site for fund-raising, or approaches a foundation that adds MPM to their development plan, you end up with a piece of their efforts, just for introducing MPM.

It ends up giving you something that can be completely automated and grow itself without any help after some initial work. That, and it's always nice to get what you want from the store you want and get a rebate that not everyone else gets.

Generating income from MPM is not about getting people to shop in YOUR mall (which, you're right- isn't a very attractive option for a shopper!)- it's about giving them their own FREE mall in which to shop.

If you buy online at Best Buy, you pay price X. If you make one additional click to open Best Buy's own site through YOUR MPM, you also pay price X. However, then Best Buy sends a rebate to MPM which gets split up into bits for MPM, you, and the 8 malls above you in varying percentages. Better to have no rebate or some rebate?

MPM does require everyone to buy one thing through their mall per month. There is no requirement for what the purchase must be, so you're free to buy a $.10 pencil or something- but it helps keep people motivated as things build as the rebates both personally generated and generated by other malls start to grow.

Again, I'm not attempting to make it the be-all, end-all home-based business, but it's working fairly well for a very, very small effort, and has the potential to continue to grow independently of my efforts - both good signs. It's a piece of a total approach to generating an independent, passive income stream.

Cheers!
Kevin

Just thought I'd give an update since my last post. I've done nothing with this besides email it to my extended friend group and put a few ads on craigslist. I've started earning money. Not much money, but money nonetheless.

My mother actually showed this to me, and she has been getting more and more involved. They've got a non-profit foundation support program up and running through which they give certain members a foundation mall below them, and then send double opt-in hot leads (purchased by MPM) for free to the members to have sign up under the foundations, with the goal of getting lots of malls going under the foundations. In a week, my mother had nine, and at least three of those malls have already had malls spring up under them.

The founder is also supposedly going to be on Oprah, Ellen, etc. with all of this, so the word will be getting out soon. Folks, it doesn't get any more 4hww than this- in a few years, it will be 0hww!

Good luck!

What is it this remind me of? Oh, right, MLM. Funny its got almost the exact same abbreviation too...

Sure, it does sound like it. The scam of MLM is always making people pay their way in to higher compensation levels, or making people buy stupid overpriced products, or encouraging attendance at must-see trainings or making lots of insane promises. I've always thought that the bad suits and haircuts were the worst part of MLMs I checked out. Bad haircuts certainly seem present in MPM, but the other scam elements aren't. They've got some info the site about the distinctions.

There is a reason this model makes good sense- It's always a good idea to get something from the efforts of others. The nice thing about MPM, and why it's not MLM is that you're not getting paid at the EXPENSE of others below you. People aren't required to do anything more than buy one thing/month (can be a song from Apple iTunes store, for exampe... .99). But I buy more than that a month anyway online, so it's no skin off my teeth to get a bit back- and what do I care that the person who showed the Mall to me also gets a cut of the referral credit? It's coming out of the corporate profit willingly paid out as referral credit, not out of the pocket of a hard-sold buyer in whose home you'll never again be welcome.

I'll wager a guess that more than one person interested in lifestyle design and the 4hww has been involved in MLM in the past. I have- but pushing spendy vitamins, water filters, gas cards, etc. is not my deal. So introduce your favorite ex-MLM superstar to MPM and let them go nuts with it and enjoy the rebates as they slowly start to roll in. The company is 1 year old. The website is free. What can you lose?

Hmmm. I have actually seen something about this on another forum. And this does lead to "your" powermall. My jury is out on this one. I know they promote these malls a lot on WAHM boards.

You may have asked yourself why it matters so much what rich people have to say. Anybody who is wishing to join this group of millionaires would want to learn from them how they managed their time as well as the little available resources to make huge sums of money. The amount of money you earn and the quality as well as the quantity of free time you enjoy will determine your happiness. Nowadays many people are having trouble in acquiring wealth because they are advised by well meaning people who just do not have the same mindset that truly successful people have.
