Hi, does anyone have experience with Contract Manufacturers? Im in the Uk and planning to bring out a Bodybuilding supplement but can't seem to find any CMs over here that meet the requirements needed. I've searched google, most companies are American, do you think it would be OK to get it from America? The advantage is the currency difference but getting the product done in America introduces more complications.

If anybody knows about what other supplement companies do(Asking them doesn't help much)or where I can find lists of Contract Manufacturers, then please advise.

It's funny, i've got pretty much everything else sorted and not the actual product.

Thanks. :)

Bump to ask. Does anyone know of any sites that are similar to the Elance idea but for Manufacturing? eg I post what im looking for and Manufactuers get in contact?

I've found only 1 CM who can do it but they're taking their time with the numbers so I need to find others.

They should be pretty easy to find. Check your local pharmacy, and they should be able to hook you up with a local outfit. The big places usually want a 100,000 tablet minimum order, and at 60 per bottle that is nearly 2,000 bottles. A bit big for an initial inventory.

Don't take this the wrong way though, but if you could only find one, don't quit your day job. The 4HWW might not be for you.

Dear TheBaker,
If I may ask, what type of health product are you trying to manufacture?
I have a source that does ship overseas, but you have to be sure your product is legal in your country. It does have to clear customs and if they seize it for some reason,it's your responsibility. In any case, let me know the particulars along with quantities and I'll see if I can get you a good quote.

I tried to use www.thomasnet.com to look up contract manufacturers who make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and judo uniforms, but I could not find any. It was the website that Tim Ferris mentioned in the book. All I could find were manufacturers of uniforms for mainstream sports, like football, basketball, baseball, etc. I couldn't even find anything mentioning martial arts uniforms at all.

If you do decide to manufacture in the US, I've found lots of info here:

Start out by checking with your local Jiu - Jitsu and judo gyms, and ask them where they get theirs from. If they don't or won't, look in trade magazines, or contact Jiu Jitsu associations and let them know you are opening up a gym and need supplies, there are probably ton's of manufacturers or wholesalers trying to sell to these places. Order some online and see if any manufacturing information comes on the tags or packaging. Go to wholesale garment districts in your city, or a major city and try to find a wholesaler/manufacturer.

AFAIK, most martial art uniforms are made outside the United States. I get emails frequently from businesses in Pakistan who want to produce uniforms for me to sell (BDUs, etc.).
