View Full Version : A Bit Backwards With Muse Testing

Indeed I have done the muse testing a bit backwards. I created the product and am just going for it. I have spent many months now starting an email list, offering free content, guest posting, and am working on building affiliates and partnerships.

It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I thought I'd have a go with Adwords, using my first $100 coupon. Essentially, though, they helped me build the campaign. At 2 and a half wks. I have spent $500. My CTR is 0.96%. I have had 2 conversions on a $79 product. My ave. CPC is 2.18 getting me 1 and 2 add positions for several of my KWs (I find that odd because it doesn't seem like a lot of people are vying for ad positions in this space).

My Niche is childbirth hypnosis...It's a digital product.

I'm feeling like CPC Adwords is too expensive, but some people on these forums say that's so, and others no. I know there's a market for this as I see others doing it...they just have more authority and experience.

I have been tweaking my website...header...no header...more of a salespage for home page...a softer approach...etc.

What I'm looking for in this thread:

--Brutally honest opinions on my website: http://www.birthrelaxationkit.com

--based on my CTR, do you think I'm off-target a bit with the campaign (not getting enough clicks), or not converting b/c of my site (copy, etc)

--Do I give up on adwords and focus on other means of growing this? Facebook ads, affiliate partners and other partnerships?

Hey! :)

--Brutally Honest opinion of website:

I don't get the obsession with these type of squeeze pages. They where good about 5 years ago, but we are more about design now, not writing to much so people skip reading it all and read the stuff in the big font.

The colours are really odd, I mean the difference in the header and the main background. I think they clash.

You don't have a logo, or even just text saying your product.

The links in the header. Probably shouldn't use all capital letters, if anything, it should be first letter or a non at all.

--Well I'm not sure... Apparently Facebook Ads have a better conversion rate. And you shouldn't ever put your max CPC above $0.74 apparently. Maybe pause your google campaign and open facebook.. would be a good test!!! Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck!

I don't mind the page itself but i know the hypnosis market very well. No need to test. It is a proven market. Your tests are now about improving conversion.

You need more credibility indicators. You need a more compelling story. Draw in the reader. Use a video sales page to do this. They are more hypnotic.

The email address you list is a domain and not an email.

Give something away that will be of value to an expectant mother that will help build credibility. build a list. Try out a webinar strategy where you do automated webinars after people join your list.

A good freebie would be a sample relaxation MP3 and a set of detailed information proving that hypnobirthing reduces pain. Show the proof from the studies you talk about.

Price point may be too high. Test.

Beef up your Our Story page. It reads like you learned some stuff and now you sell a course. Not strong.

Hope this helps...

Oh one more idea...maybe create a physical CD to sell also. use cd-fulfillment.com

Also, your affiliate page should not show up as a tab. Hide this from customers, or at least put it in the footer.

Then ditch all the crap about how the payout might drop. Are you kidding? I would never join such an affiliate program that lies to me about comission usually being 15%. I know most Clickbank successful products use 60-75%.

You will get more affiliates if you move to clickbank.

Jay2300:

Thanks for your honest opinion. I had actually ditched my header/logo b/c of advice that headers have been proven to decrease conversion. After changing it, I was uneasy about the site.
I have returned to my previous format. Check it out (much appreciated):
http://www.birthrelaxationkit.com

I kept the sales letter format...but please realize this is not a squeeze page, as a squeeze page gives a visitor 2 options: buy/opt-in or leave.

Curious what you think now...I understand if you don't like the colors, but I suppose that is subjective.

FrozenCanuck:

Thanks for your feedback.
We will be working on a more compelling story. I think we started off wanting to come off as being "just like you 2.0," but realized along the way that we probably want to be more credible.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "email address is a domain and not an email." Can you specify where you mean?

As far as giveaway and list, we have been giving a free mp3 and building a list already...but via our personal domain http://dyenfamily.com.
This is a product page only, and we debated that we wanted to minimize the number of actions someone could take on our site (ie too many options may hurt conversions). But I have come around on this. Thanks for your advice. I put a link for a freebie on this site...It takes them to an opt-in box and I have a short autoresponder set up that takes them through some clinical proof stuff. I'll improve that as I go too, but for now, will capture their email and add it to my list.

Also working on JV/Affiliate stuff. Developed some webinars to build list and make sales.

The physical CD idea is a good one. I just didn't want to create a huge overhead before seeing if I could really make money. We're thinking of adding it as a choice, and I can put packages together quickly. Once it reaches critical mass, I would put the whole thing in production. Thanks for the tip.

PRICING: Funny, I was thinking of raising the price. Was told that often, people who will pay $37 will pay $50, people who will pay $67 will pay $97, etc. In this market, there are products that are as low as $45, and as high as $140. I think positioning may be the key to my higher price point. Making my product a "course" would add value...And that's something I could implement rather quickly. What do you think?

Definitely right on with changing my Affiliate page (tucked away in footer) and getting rid of the evolving commission %. Thanks for pointing that out!

I chose E-Junkie because they have a secure system for downloads...Meaning, the links expire, so it's harder for people to pass links around. Does Clickbank do something like this?
I was debating about switching to Clickbank because visibility is definitely better there. I had just set up E-Junkie so I was on the fence.
