View Full Version : What if you can't afford PPC or Google adwords?

From a newbie.
1) The "tools" Tim provides are a G-dsend. I really am reading everything I can in the book, references and website (Blogs), but what if you cannot afford several thousand dollars (let alone $50,000) for Google adword or PPC keywords to promote your website and product? Am I missing something? It's sort of like KIYOSAKI'S advice to invest in real estate (but if you don't have the down payment and can't borrow it.... then what?). I've got the products, marketing concepts and expertise re: licensing etc (I'm a patent attorney believe it or not), but no discretionary income right now.
2) Has anyone thought or tried using the 4hww methods to sell network marketing products (eg Amway or something?).
Thank you for advice.
Sincerely,
Excited, inspired but just making ends meet each month.

thousands or $50,000 for adwords??

you can cap it at $10 a day.. or $10 a month if you want, you'll just have miniscule exposure.

the first question is, what are you trying to promote?

Check out the warrior forum

http://www.warriorforum.com

That forum has been around for 10 or 12 years and is THE place to get info about using the intenet as a marketing tool.

I've used a coupon for $100 at yahoo adwords. Cost me less per click then at google and converted like 1 sale per 3 clicks.

Geez, if you're converting 1:3, what are you moaning about? Unless you're paying some obscene amount per click, like $5.00, the more you spend on PPC, the more profit you'll have.

What are you promoting and what's your profit from what you are selling?

Yeek, im not moaning.

I was paying like $.03 per click and making just under a dollar profit on each sale (roughly) but it was reccurring. So $.09 (3x .03) would end up making me roughly $.85 per signup per month.. Looking at 2-5 singups per week.

I'm with Jazz - what's the problem

If those are your metrics, then you WANT to be spending $50k!
Because you'll be making half a mil in no time.

And as already pointed out, you can spend as little or as much as you want with AdWords - you're in control
It's probably one of the best was to quickly test a muse - and the website you have for it
lots of clicks & no sales = crappy website
no clicks = either no market for your muse, or you might need AdWords help
lots of clicks + a 1:3 conversion rate = financial freedom

side note - yahoo (& live/msn) will generally convert better for most markets. but you'll have to test. the downside is there's a lot less traffic out there.
& don't forget ebay - more people on there every day & they're looking to buy

What are you guys (Mike Rhodes and jazzdrive) missing here? pwebbiz hasn't said a single thing to lead me to believe he/she is complaining. The comment about Yahoo and high conversion was a SUGGESTION to the initiator of this thread to go try Yahoo, based on my read.

For the thread initiator, here are some other thougths for you.

1) Go do the thirty day challenge. It is over but was SO worth my time because of what I learned. It is totally free. Google it or search this forum for more info. It was recommended to me here, I learned a ton that helped me in my day job and has sparked ideas for my muses. There are lots of free way to drive traffic.

2) Get coupons for PPC from Yahoo, Google, etc. Search around and you'll find them. Get $50-100 for free and use that to its full potential. Figure out what works. Advertising DRIVES revenue, and this is a much more helpful belief to have as opposed to "advertising is a cost to my business". No, without advertising, you have no business. Nothing. If you have the best product in the world you won't make a dime unless people know about it.

3) Think of other ways to advertise offline, or online. Online is big, but not the only way, and you may find cheaper and better return on investment in the print world for all you know. Try a $10 classified or magazine add and see what happens. Tim's book is FULL of advice for offline advertising.

Another member suggested warrior forum; WF is a place that can both hurt and help people looking for online marketing advice. There are some good ideas thrown around on WF, however there are just as many bad ideas to be found there.

Try article marketing for a free alternative traffic method. There are plenty of online directories that will allow you to post articles, usually about your product(s), with links to your site included.

Social media can also be a big help, sites like digg, reddit, myspace twitter, and others can provide a huge traffic surge if properly implemented. Converting this traffic into actual sales is another matter, but fortunately the use of social media compliments your search rankings : A user searches for your keywords and one of the top results is your digg submission which sends them to your website.

Another valuable source of traffic for you might be yahoo answers and similar sites.

Keep in mind that Google is not the only source of traffic, paid or otherwise. Most of the larger networks have first time advertiser credits; combined, these coupons can total in the high hundreds of dollars.

Finally, you may want to look into offline marketing, depending on the product or service that you're selling, marketing offline can be very rewarding for you.

For brevity's sake, I'm keeping this post general in nature.

I can provide specific examples of these techniques and their implementation, if anyone is interested.

Wow that's great! Do you know any good freelancers who can set this up and do keyword research or are you available?

I'm an AdWords freelancer, I've recently started bidding for projects on elance, have you tried looking there? There are a lot of decent providers on there.
