Hi guys
I'm a 24yo male. I'm leaving my job in 6 weeks and then have all of May and June to do whatever I want before I start a new job (banking) in mid July. I have 2-3 muse ideas that are in development right now so hopefully they'll be up and running by June (Parkinson's law!). I have a few options but am not sure what to do. I have $1000 in flight vouchers and money isn't a huge issue as my next job will be high paying. I really just want to relax before I start the 80 hour weeks! I'm currently based in the UK. Here they are:
1. I have been talking to a sailing school in Gibraltar who have put together a 2 month sailing course for me to reach RYA Yachtmaster level (am currently a Day Skipper). I would be sailing around the Med to Morocco, and also around the Algarve and Portugal. The cost would be $8k or so but I would have an amazing qualification which would enable me to skipper commercially if I wanted. I would meet a lot of cool people but there wouldn't be great night life.
2. I would love to go to Thailand and study MMA for 2 months at Tiger Muay Thai, as I've seen a lot of people on the board have done. It would be great to learn a new skill and get in amazing shape. I have also never been to Asia. I have no experience in MMA, but did do some martial arts when younger and would love the physical challenge. It would also be good night life, I imagine. Can anybody who has done this let me know how it was, and if it's suitable for a beginner? What can I expect after 2 months? This would be much cheaper than option 1.
3. I could go to Brazil and learn how to surf. Nexus surf (featuring in the book) sounds great, but Floripa would be a little chillier that time of year as it's their winter. I could go somewhere a little further north though-- maybe Salvador? I've never surfed before but am sure I would love it...and the nightlife would be amazing. Also some good relaxation. And the women are supposed to be pretty nice as well...!
4. I could go to Colombia and chill out for a couple of months-- maybe do a little sailing, diving, spanish, and salsa. The weather would be amazing, the women are beautiful, and the night life is supposed to be great. This would be by far the most relaxing of the options.
I don't really have any language skills besides basic French, but would love to do some sort of lessons corresponding to my choice and try to pick up some sort of basic level before/while I am there.
Also, my muses will be pretty new so it would be nice to have somewhere I could do a little work on them if I have to...but I suppose I could do this wherever.
I was thinking about BA (one of my muse partners will be there), but it's supposed to be cold as hell there in those months so it isn't too appealing. Although the nightlife is amazing.
Sorry for the long email. Thanks for the help!
