Hi everyone!

I´m new to this forum and I hope we can share experiences and advices.

I´m about to start my own company, but before that I really need a great logo that can represent me everywhere.

Does anybody know any company that provides logo design....also taking into account affordable prices since I´m just getting started ;)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

NuvoLogo and Trapdoor Media at elance.com. I thought their logos were quite nice but I have not worked with either personally. I simply know how it will translate in an ad and the ones I saw in their portfolios are very nice and conceptually-based designed logos.

Whether you hire out or do something yourself, keep it clean and simple. Too large or too blocky and complex, and it will fall apart in some publications. I see $35 per hour on one of them. That is reasonable. They'll probably offer you an estimate and I would think under $200. Keep in mind that a well-developed logo at an ad agency usually can run over $10k.

Clear direction from you as to what you have in mind will help but don't micromanage it either. With creative people, you should offer direction but leave the door open for them to do their thing. They'll do their thing and then present you with some choices, each a little different variation. I think if you want a package deal with letterhead and website header, you might get a package deal.

So if you have examples of logos you like or ones in their portfolio you like, share this with the designer. If you have colors already, they'll need to know what they are. If you have an idea or concept you want your logo to portray, it would be worth your while to communicate this. But then they probably have you fill out some type of creative brief.

If you do try it yourself, do plain type that looks nice. Think nike without the swoosh.

Below is one from NuvoLogo. It really defines the elegance of the type of product. Your logo needs to reflect the feeling you want the consumer to have about your product. Like I said I don't know these guys but I have them in my notes when it's time to have one done. I know many art directors and graphic designers but none of them have an hourly rate this low.

There is only one person to speak to if you are new and need a really strong corporate identity, you can view his work at http://www.jeffquigley.com

His work is very nice. He's clearly what I refer to as a "tier one" art director.

In another reference book I read, they talked about the good business model that 1-800-mylogo came up with. I looked at their site at the time (and again now) and was impressed. I haven't used them, but their $199 package targeted to online businesses seems like a good option to consider. www.1800mylogo.com (http://www.1800mylogo.com)

Good luck!

Thank you very much TravelDog!

I´ll review all the info and some other that I have made some research on, and by the end of this week I will be telling you which one is the winner (I hope I can find it!).

I´ll still be looking forward to more comments.

Cheers!

Hi acquamarine!

I worked with a company that not only helped me with the design of my logo, but also with my website and some brochures design.

Once in a while I recur to their services because of the quality of the artwork and the prices. And also, because of the individual treatment they have with each client.

You can take a look at their website thenetmencorp.com and I am sure you´re gonna like their portfolio and package deals.

I hope it helps you, and of course, I would like you to keep me updated.

Good luck.
Robert

Hi again!

Do you remember that I was going to keep you updated with my research?

Well, let me tell you that I finally made up my mind....and I have to thank smartbusiness1998 for that ;).

I contacted the Marketing and Sales Manager at thenetmencorp and they will design my logo in only 3 days!!!! Can you believe that?

After going through so many places, it´s good to have found something really good. Well, I don´t know how my logo will look like yet, but first impressions help a lot! I need to mention that customer service it´s awesome there.

I want to thank you all of you for your help.

See you around!

How did your 3-day logo turn out? :)

Funny I stumbled on a reference to the company I used.

I hired NuvoLogo directly through their website about 6 months ago and got a fantastic design. This is before I knew about elance.

But they do offer a bit more through their website and were fantastic. :D

It was nice to have a toll free number that I was able to call and talk to my designer. I know Timothy suggests try and outsource as much for the best price, but it was nice to verbalize what I couldn't get into an email.

The samples they show are as good as you'll get. Trust me.

Anyway, just my two cents.
