Hello everyone,

I've been messing with the google keywords tool looking at search terms for some product ideas of mine, but I'm not sure how to interpret the results. The results come in the form of little bar graphs showing competition and search volume. What does this mean in terms of actual numbers of searches? Overture gives you numbers of searches for different keywords. In some cases I get results that look pretty good on google--good-sized bars for search volume with little competition--but small numbers of actual searches according to Overture.

Is there a way to get actual numbers of searches from google? I'm getting ready to spend a little money testing some ideas and I want to understand what I'm looking at.

Thanks.

This is a tool developed through 30 day challenge. I would highly suggest starting to work through that program they have (www.thirtydaychallenge.com). It has helped me gain insight into this confusing world of online marketing.

I'd second the advice on the thirty day challenge although if you want to shoot throught the content quickly insead of sitting through hours of video, then check out Mike Midel's blog (founder of Wordtracker).

On the page I've linked to below, all the videos have been transcribed so you can read through at your own pace
