View Full Version : Quit my job today
Hi! I'm new here, and I've been reading this book for about a week. It's a dream of mine to own my own business and not have to worry about being a slave for money anymore. Today, I quite my job after those incompetent micro-managers I work for fired one of the most competent members of my department(actually, our whole department quit along with me). I feel so relieved to shed myself of that burden, but unfortunately I now have the burden of job-hunting, which I hate, particularly because I lack the proper job experience in the kind of work that I might actually like. But as I said, my dream is to not work at all, but to have my own business from which to draw wealth.
Anyway, the main thing that depresses me about this is that I didn't have time to set up my own business while still working there, and I fear I'll have to find another job before I can accomplish that dream. I only have about $1500 in the bank, and rent + utilities is about $600. How do I go about finding the right job when the right job is not working for someone else? I'm not quite sure what exactly I'm trying to say here, but any advice would be appreciated.

What kind of work are you in? That will help us answer your question :)
Until you figure it out, you may need to get a job (either pt or ft) to support yourself until you can get your...whatever....going. Otherwise you'll just flounder since all you'll be doing it trying to pay bills.
Also, working for yourself isn't all it's cracked up to be. I only work 1/2 days...but at least I get to choose which 12 hours that is. :)

Get a part time job. Spend the rest of your time figuring out how to do something that eventually brings in money automatically. Working for yourself can be just as bad as working for someone else, if it's taking up all your time

Definitely agree that a part-time job is the way to go. Especially one that is less stressful and doesn't take up too much of your "off work" time. If you need just something to pay the bills and keep you going, it's best to find something that allows flexibility and most of all, time.
This way you can pursue your dream of starting up a business on the side, and money will not be an issue. You can devote more of your energy into this business and hopefully see it flourish with time!

And you can find full time jobs that will not suck all your time. Costco pays pretty well and has benefits. You get the luxury of putting in your 8 hours (except for holidays) and going home. No stress, no homework, no worries. Not that I work for Costco or am pushing Costco. Just an example.
I'm fortunate that I have enough free time at my job to work on my muse/s. My boss leaves me alone most of the time as long as I'm doing my job. Now getting him to let me work from home is another thing. That ain't ever going to happen.

and start a full-time business. Work just enough to pay your bills, and work on your business as much as you can. Yes it will be a lot of hard work. But it will be worth it in the end.

1. Learn to spell. Spend any free time you have learning. There is lots of stuff online to learn from. MIT has all their courses online.
2. Cut your expenses and live like a student.
3. Get a part time job that will pay the rent.
4. A new online business should come to you if you give it a chance.

I agree with most of your sentiments but... "Learn to spell." WTF? The only typo in the OP is "quite".

hi there
i do agree that you should look for a part time job so that you can pay your bills
in the meantime, i would suggest you to do some easy affiliate marketing via clickbank, which is to me the best and most profitable way to make a decent extra income
This is a list of some of the top ebooks that can explain you how the entire clickbank system works
