Hi everybody,
I would like to learn WP to create the site for my muse, but I haven't decided a domain name yet and I am not sure of the WordPress and hosting features I will need for my site.
Can anybody advise on a free hosting site offering full WordPress support? I would like to test WP (and learn) with a myname.xxxxxx.com (or similar) domain, in order to learn about WP before I actually start paying for my domain and my hosting.
I have tried a couple of free-hosting sites but had problems when working with WP.
I would appreciate any advise!
Thank you!
Maria
Hey zindara,
For a free webhost with Wordpress support, try http://www.000webhost.com. I think they even have a simple Wordpress installation. Give it a try and tell me how it goes!

Disclaimer: this is one of our sites.
Have you considered paying for hosting? It's no thrills, but http://www.ripplehost.com/ you're looking at $15 / year for hosting; wordpress auto-install and $10 / year for a domain name.
Alternatively, just signup with wordpress.com directly seems they have a free option.
Good luck!

I am using bluehost for my wordpress site. I was new to the whole thing too and I have found it fairly easy to navigate.

One thing to bear in mind though - they do lock the installation down a lot. But it'll be enough to give you a taster.

Hi everybody and thank you for your answers,
edo, 000webhost was one I tried, and the autoinstaller is "temporarily" not working for wordpress. I read in the forums that it hasn't been working since last summer so I think that "temporarily" means a long term in this case. I tried the manual installation but I keep getting errors about PHP not working properly and missing PHP components (not sure how to solve them yet... but I am investigating it ;)).
dhabet, I do consider paying for hosting for my muse, but I want to learn WP first and I don't really know what I should ask for a hosting service as I still don't know all the features I will need. So I would like to find out that first. Otherwise I think I could risk on paying for hosting services that will not be able to use.
natalie, as far as I have seen bluehost is not free, right? But thanks for the feedback about them and WP!
I am also investigating wp .com
Thanks all for all the answers!
If anybody else knows of a free hosting with WP autoinstaller (fantastico or similar), please share! Thanks !!!

Create a local install on your computer and learn your way around from the comfort at home without restrictions or having to pay.

Any hosting service with Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP should work for you. Fantastico or softaculous would a be a nice to have, but you're better of doing the wordpress install yourself (it's straightforward).

Thank you Mr RC. That is a good idea.
dhabets, thanks for your answer too. That is my assumption, but I would love to try it if possible for free.
Thankds and regards,
Maria
