My story and some background

I worked as a waitress in NYC to save some cash, after realizing that the only way for me to do life,
is to be self employed and location independent.

To escape out of restaurant nation and live life on my terms, an internet based business is required.

Now, my “saga” is this:
I physically left school when I was 14.
I’m no Silicon Valley entrepreneur nor an Ivy League graduate,
My computer/tech skills are none,
And did I mention I’m an Israeli?
Hence, English is my 2nd language,
How the F#%k will I do it?
Well, Nike said it best-Just do it.

At that time (11 weeks ago) I was in a Maria Sharapova Like shape, both physically and mentally, and I manage to construct a cornerstone plan to realize this dream.
Among lots of other “sweat” inducing activities,
Moving back home, to lower living costs, was a first.

I'm home, and fear paralyzed (for 11 weeks now)!
Other than consuming a ridicules amount of information and a boatload of e-courses on how to, and ways to, make money online I haven't actually rolled up my sleeves yet.

Why not?
Reasons are plenty, or maybe it all boils down to this:
I am afraid, I'm not good enough, and I don't know how.

Let me explain:
I physically left school when I was 14, I taught myself everything I know, including English, so I don't think low IQ is our problem hear, As less intelligent people tried it and pulled it of.

What's stopping me?
I’m missing some basic and fundamental learning skills.
As an adult, whenever I took on learning something new,
I quit as soon as these skills are required.
That leads to self hatred and low self esteem,
resulting in reverting to, using my charisma and physical strength as a surviving strategy.
Fortunately however, this work harder not smarter dose not fulfills me and I keep trying:

Take 75, Camera roll and action!!

Dear 4hww community
This may have an "I am independent" tone.
What I am really saying is:
Having your input is the most important thing.
I'll love, love, love to have any feedback your willing to give me, Tough love is fine! I can handle it. I'm ready to make a move.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Shushu

Welcome to the forum. I am also relatively new to all this.

I think the beauty of some of the ideas and successes on here, is that they don't require a huge range of skills. Of course it helps if you are very good on computers, know the jargon etc, but it is not essential.

Good VA's are around with the expertise, which are very reasonably priced, some very cheap - who can do all the technical stuff. As long as you have a plan, ideas and goals - it is very achievable.

You have to change the way you think. Think innovative, do a plan showing what you'd like to do with your ideas, do the work you can and then use VA's to do the work you don't want to do (due to time) or don't know how to do (due to expoertise).

I think the important thing is having a plan. if you have ideas and skills, then it is a bonus - but you can get various help on the later two on here.

That's what this site is for - all of us to help each other and that way we all achieve our goals. We all wanted the same thing and that was why we read Tims Book.

My story and some background

I physically left school when I was 14.

So did JD Rockefeller. Richest man who ever lived. The lack of a degree closes some doors but with very few exceptions, school is no place to get an education.

I’m no Silicon Valley entrepreneur nor an Ivy League graduate

99% of both either work for somebody else or live on top ramen for some number of 100 hour weeks figuring out the same things you have to learn.

Their long term advantage is the people they network with. So, learn how to network, you probably already know how. Prioritize it.

My computer/tech skills are none

Partner with someone who does. Or learn as you go. Or both.

And did I mention I’m an Israeli?

Yeah, that's clearly a huge disadvantage to succeeding financially in today's world. ;)

Hence, English is my 2nd language

Translate. Import/export, cultural intermediary, bridge the gaps for $

How the F#%k will I do it?

You're already doing it.

I’m missing some basic and fundamental learning skills.
As an adult, whenever I took on learning something new,
I quit as soon as these skills are required.
That leads to self hatred and low self esteem,
resulting in reverting to, using my charisma and physical strength as a surviving strategy...I don't think low IQ is our problem hear, As less intelligent people tried it and pulled it of.

I know more smart poor people than I do smart rich people. I have met homeless phD's. Being the smartest gets you nowhere.

You have to be smart enough. That's all. More than that is its own problem. Less than that and you wouldn't have found this board.

You've stated your goal- make a profitable online business

How many skills do you need to do that?

In my opinion, you need exactly one.

Find the people who need something, find the people who have something, connect them in a way by which you are compensated.

hungry people ---waitress---- kitchen

people who need something---- you ---- people who have that thing

Capisce?

Take one step further, if you don't know how to do that, connect with people who do, and keep it all in the context of your goal.

That is one skill, and you already have it.

The rest becomes skills you maybe want to learn, not that you must learn, and experiences you want to have, not that you must have.

best of luck!

Excellent post.

Ask yourself the question :

What can I do to change other people's life ? What are the skills that I have that could help ? What I am good at ? What am I passionnate about ?

By going through those questions you will start to be on your way to your muse.

Good luck !

Miyagi San

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I agree with this that one can make it in the Digitalverse without being a hacker, it does seem like there is something ales compensating for that in most cases such as a talent, passion, and/or a skill.

“As long as you have a plan, ideas and goals - it is very achievable”.
This is my pitfall! I don’t have a plan nor an idea. My goal however is clear: Make money online… (I hope this doesn’t sound like a joke)

Thanks for pin pointing what I need to focus on, and yes I MUST change the way I think, moreover, the way I act, moving from fear to action!!

Thanks again!

America (americanoracle) , you are the real deal!
To say I loved your reply is an understatement, Capisce?

Now let’s break it down a little:

“School is no place to get an education”.
BUT skills, skills, and yes of course I can learn to learn at this age (32), however, if I knew how to do a few things (market research, product creation, tech stuff) we would be having a different conversation.

“99% of both are figuring out the same things you have to learn”.
I’m willing to work for FREE next to someone that will be generous enough to have me for just 1 project, than I guaranty, I’ll “crush it”.

“Learn how to network, prioritize it”. I love love people, and I’m learning the digital flirt, yet I’m not sure what is it that I have to offer.

“Partner with someone who does”. Hence the dream!

“Translate. Import/export, cultural intermediary, bridge the gaps for $”
LOVE the idea!! It’s combining all my passions together (excluding samba dancing)! As this is so vague, a question remains: How do I start? (I will look at the video).

“You're already doing it”. This brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Thanks man!

how did you teach yourself English?

if you could write it down, turn it into an ebook/podcast tutorial, build a nice website around it and sell the ebook...market the website, then there's some potential right there.

you could even break it out in to different levels (novice, beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc.).

anyway, good luck!

Hey Missy

Thank you, you got me thinking!
Doing the teaching English may not be my thing, BUT you did open my eyes! Thanks A LOT
Do you have a muse? will you shear it with me for inspiration?
Thanks again!
