Hey pisco,
Take a look at Cal Newport's blog (http://calnewport.com/blog/), he has a lot of really helpful articles on maximizing your effectiveness. His work on active studying really helped me get to the grades I'm at while reducing my studying time by 50%

I have 4HWW'ed my school. I spend only a few hours of week outside the class room on studying and homework/projects. This semester I'll end with all A's. A large part of it is training your brain to operate better!

lumosity.com is a great way to do just that. Highly recommended!

If I were back at school, I'd take a speed reading course.

I read the Evelyn Woods book on speedreading a few years ago and I wish I had known about that when I was in college. Supposedly the methods help you to comprehend and retain more information.

I use the speedreading that I taught myself all the time for non-fiction books. It comes in handy as I gather info.

Can't wait to check out the other suggestions.

I study law at university and we have a massive workload for prep (running through cases and legislation etc before class each week)

I just changed it up and checked out case summaries on google to get the jist of it since most the discussion is based on cases rather than legislation... and did the majority of my note taking after the seminar was complete.

It saved a massive amount of time because I'd over prepare and 70% of it would never really be tested, so after changing it i'd take down the important bits that the lecturer pointed out and seemed to discuss the most and my study time was cut by a fair amount with no harm to my grades (I actually did slightly better in some exams)

I would second Cal Newport. He has guest posted on the Four Hour Blog and his philosophy is very similar to the 4HWW.

Here's a streamline process for typing essays and reports. Get DRAGON or ExpressScribe software, then you can dictate and transcribe your reports.

1) Think and jot some bullet points on what you are going to talk about.
2) Then talk about them in to your dictaphone without any editing.
3) Then have it transcribed, if it hasn't been done already, and look at it.
4) Now you do your editing and corrections.

Transcription software is not completely accurate but they are good enough to save huge amounts of time. Also, you have to get used to it to get the accuracy level up.

Yea, Cal has pretty much destroyed the segment of "4HWW for Students."

I can't think of any material that could possibly supplement his awesome battle plan.

Your material is up against material from a guy that lectures at MIT. Additionally, college students don't generally have the money to pay, nor will they pay for this (especially if you consider typical eBook pricing.)

You can get all 3 of Cal's books for about 30 bucks.

In all honesty, I'd recommend another muse.
