Hey All:

Noticed all the positive comments for the thirtydaychallenge, so I just started checking it out. Disclaimer: I am completely new to all of this, but am totally open to new ideas, so excuse my neophyte reaction. I wanted to get an experienced opinion before investing what looks like a good amount of time in the material.

I know the purpose of the challenge is educational, but it seems to me that all that effort for $10 falls into any number of possibilities:
1. The contestants are artificially handicapped, meaning contest rules seriously limit possible income
2. The techniques are limited to a non-lucrative portion of a larger bag of techniques
3. No money to work with up front seriously limits your upside potential with these techniques (perhaps this is related to item #1)
4. This is really just a forecasting effort

Please, just tell me to press on, and that the payoff is huge, and that the only reason so much effort landed so little is <insert reason here>.

Thanks!

Speaking as someone who is only a third of the way through the challenge, I think the point of it is to first take those baby steps in internet marketing to learn the fundamentals. Sure it will take a lot of time to become really good at it, but what doesn't? You have to practice and put in the time; it's not going to be this magical get rich quick scheme, you know?

I also think most of the techniques are scalable i.e. they can work for low traffic ventures but they can also work in the "big leagues" as Ed Dale calls it.

Just my two cents, I'm going through it and it seems worthwhile to me.

30 day challlenge teaches about wordtracker and google trends and youtube.
Don't expect someone to give you a free key to the treasure vault. There is some information about marketing- although it takes longer than it has to.
But the classes are instructional in that you can see the potential of making similar classes for you tube.
You still have to come up with something to give people.

I read favorable mention of 30-day challenge here, went to the site, but it's really just a landing page w/o info. It's all geared towards getting you to sign up.

I gave them my gmail address (that I use for unknown companies that might start spamming me.) But I haven't activated the link they sent me yet. Hesitating, because I want to know what it is first. I'm also not ready to begin something that MUST be done on a schedule, it needs to be self-paced.

If someone here would please give me a brief explanation of what it is, I sure would appreciate it.

thanks

The 30 Day Challenge is a free training program put on by the guys who run wordtracker. The program is to teach how to market effectively on the internet for free. The $10 goal is to give a simple target to shoot for. One guy made $7000 in 2 days so it isn't limited.

The idea behind the system is to find low competition search phrases in a niche that generate top rating on google (and other search engines, though they only focus on google) for that niche.

You get control of these smaller searches and that gives your site credibility in the larger niches. So for instance if you have the #1 spot on "angry space monkeys" and then get #1 on "nasty space monkeys" you will be able to get #1 on "space monkeys". "angry monkeys," "angry nasty monkeys," "angry nasty space monkeys" and eventually "monkeys."

It is basically a soft sell on the wordtracker service, but that doesn't stop it from being great information. That also means that they won't spam you or sell your info. It is one of the best internet marketing sites I have run into so far and it is designed for the non tech savvy.

I'll have to check this out. I have actually gotten a client a top rank on google and I did "go through the back door". The popular keywords were very expensive and the barrier would have been tough to break going in the entrance. So basically, I took the niche approach. So I've watched this work. But I'm always up for another experiment--particularly since I'll be marketing my own in a few months. Thanks for the heads up.

I can certainly understand peoples hesitation for joining "the next big thing in internet marketing" blah, blah, gives us money, blah, blah. Actually this thirty day challenge is over but the info is self paced so you can start at any time. I didn't try and start a new site to make $10, I have sites that are way beyond that. With that being said I still followed it all the way through and learned a lot in the process. The other thing to remember is this was designed so that someone with zero internet marketing background could learn the fundamentals of internet marketing without spending a dime. They spend a huge amount of time up front with research which I think most people completely skip, and in the end cost you a bunch of money. I seriously doubt there are many people that can't learn something from this course, and even if you know it it's always good to be reminded.

BTW for those that still aren't sure about it, go to youtube and search for thirty day challenge. Most of the videos from the challenge are posted there also.

Hey thanks for all the responses. As I get further into this, light bulbs are going off.

Any chance the person who figured out how to generate $7000 in two days would post their experience? All things being equal, it seems like that's a huge difference in outcome from the norm, given that everyone has the same data at their disposal.

There was a post on the Thirty Day Challenge forum from that guy and if I remember right it was commission on condos or something like that. He said he had been trying to make a sale for like the last two years but it wasn't able to until he came at it from a different angle with techniques learned from the challenge that he finally made it work.

Hi,

I am only on day 3 of this, but it looks like a great education. I have been trying to figure out affiliat marketing for a few months. there is so many directions that you can go with it that it is making my head spin. I have been trying to following 2 Gurus. Both good, but again so much information. When My housband picked up 4hourworkweek it became clear to me that I need to simplfy now to be able to atomate later.

30daychallenge looks like it will lay a good foundation, or at least help me find my muse.
