Dear all,
In Tim's muse math, he gave the example of "speed reading" and churned out 22,876 total search online.
I've been trying to understand how do I know the number of searches online for my product "chlorophyll" and through Google keyword tool, it resulted in 165,000 global monthly searches. Since Google has approx. 80% share, does this mean I take 165,000 x 1.25 (100/80) to get my total search online?
I dont think this is accurate to how Tim come about with his 22,876.
Kindly advice, fellow NR.
Be awesome,
Alex:)

Hi,
I was a little confused by your post - but the best place I know online to do/learn keyword research is
http://www.noblesamurai.com/dojo/marketsamurai/
Look under the Keyword Research section.
Hope it helps,
Pete

Thanks Pete for your promptness. Appreciate it.
I'm comparing how Tim does his R&D in his musemath.pdf downloadable file on how he does his R&D on market research on whether if its worth it to going ahead investing in his muse. I think I might be seeing the wrong numbers, but for those of you who went through his musemath.pdf will understand my challenge here.
Kindly advice.

hi there,
just read the musemath pdf and I think you are right with the 80% of Google.
Anyway that's how I understood his explanation.
So that gives 160 000 X 1,25 = 200 000 searches
in PPC 0,5 to 1,5% clicks --> let's not be too optimistic and take 1%
2000 clicks on you ad 1 or 2 % conversion rate = 20 to 40 purchases a month for this term.
Just come to think about it if we consider only adwords as publicity I don't think you should use the 80%! just use the Google research.
So 160 000 --> 1600 clicks --> 16 to 32 sales
Now it is up to you to know how much you earn per sale and how much ads are going to cost you!
Good luck!
I don't know whether the word you gave was just an example but look for more specific keywords!! (less expensive and better conversion rate!!)

You also have to take those numbers with a historical perspective. Don't compare google with the world (80%), that is senseless. Google is google, Bing is bing, and facebook is facebook. They all have different methods and conversion rates. Do your testing on google, then repeat the testing on the rest, and adapt it where necessary.
You would be foolish to ignore facebook ads at this point, but when Tim wrote his book, they werent even on the radar.
