View Full Version : Got my muse in phase 1

I finally got a light web site up. From now my next goals are to re-do the site and make direct ordering possible with a sales cart, write a safety manual for motorcycling and upload my motorcycle delivery manual.
In this and the next step, I will be doing all of the order processing, shipping, and fulfillment. I do not want to even bother with any outsourcing until it is financially viable.
What do you think of the product itself? The patent went through two months ago, and I have a factory in China making them already. The first 50 pairs were prototypes and pretty junky, but the next two shipments have gotten progressively better.

Here is the product:
http://ledknuckles.com/

Phase 3 - will be the expansion to the Japanese market, where I am currently living. All pizza delivery shops (including the 4 I own) deliver on scooters, and I plan on marketing these as safety delivery equipment. The LEDs are visible from 1.5 Kilos away and they are higher up than the normal turn signals, making them stand out.

I will make a driver safety ebook available with every purchase, in an attempt to draw people to make a purchase. What do you guys think?

Hi there

I like the product... well done for coming up with the idea and securing the patent. Obviously you know the market to know whether or not there is the demand for it

I'm presuming you made that website yourself, so if you are happy to accept Paypal or Google Checkout, you can use this shopping cart for free (http://www.fatfreecart.com) and with some simple HTML cutting and pasting, be accepting online orders in a matter of minutes

Hope thats useful

Jon :)

Just to add, with Paypal (and I'm pretty sure Google Checkout too) you can set up simple 'Buy Now' buttons on their websites that will generate the HTML for you

I'm not sure how variable quantities of a product are handled in this case though and I don't like Paypal anyway (Google checkout is also free until the end of the year)

Cheers

Jon :)

Paypal has some quick to install shopping carts, too. You can call for guidance from them as well. They have some tutorials on their site that explain the packages nicely.

I think the product is cool. My neighbor has had some back and forth with his "jock-in-the-box" with the Chinese manufacturers. But it came together.

Since you are taking a "tease" approach on your website, I would suggest less copy on the front. The approach you've used is a tease > payoff so it needs to be "faster" on the front if you're going to go that route.

You've come a long way.

I'd suggest maybe taking the best bits from that ebook & creating a top 7 driving tips as a giveaway to swap for an email address.
you won't get many sales on someone's first visit - but if you can send an auto-responder series you'll at least double your sales by building the relationship & selling over time

I'd also say add more photos to the site - especially on the homepage :)

mate - well done on getting the muse to this point. awesome work!

Thanks for the input guys. I plan on having all of those suggestions implemented in my Japanese site. My uncle is doing the sales in the US now and he is a bit slow to adapt to new ideas and the internet.

Also, if anyone is interested in licensing the gloves, I would be very interested in discussing the idea. I can manufacture them in any color or pattern. (If it is against the rules to blow my own horn that blatantly, let me know).

I think it's way cool. I wish I knew something about licensing. I think you could market that to runners as a secondary market. I can't tell you the number of people I see outside at night once it's dark at 6pm (around October here in the U.S.). Those gloves would be awesome.

The front does need more photos and visual interest for sure. But I know it's a process and takes some time. I do like that it's not too much clutter so you can add while keeping it clean.

And the ad ideas could be really fun, too.

My friend Chuck, down the street secured licensing for a product. His site is below. I'm not sure that will help and I'm not selling these nor do I have any affiliation with this product other than it's my neighbor and he consulted me as a friend on the creation of the collectible for North Carolina Tar Heels (my alma mater). But the website might have some features/menu items to consider.

Looks great. More work on the photos would probably pay off too.

Marcie, I like you already.

:D I went to a private college near NC State but have always been a Tarheel at heart. I am taking a class there now. Sorry, back to the topic at hand!

Some initial feedback: It took me 3 clicks to figure out what the product really was. I would work on some visuals to convey that right off the bat - maybe a photo of the product right away.

Check out some landing page pointers here: http://www.copyblogger.com/landing-page-makeover-6/

Meredith College? Peace College? My husband went to State. I'm from NC.

It did take a while to figure out what it was--the product. And it's such a cool product. I kind of want to see the bang. In other words, I want to see the glowing knuckles right away 250x250px at least right at the get go with a cool headline.

a color, other than gray. Try using brighter colors. Nice site otherwise.

Looks great! You have a few spelling mistakes on the page and, as already mentioned, maybe make the site a little more "in your face", focus on the product right away. Great idea though! good luck!

I haven't used it yet, but this shopping cart site is fairly inexpensive and worth a look. I've purchased items through it from some gurus and it was a clean experience from a consumer standpoint.
