Like many people here I am working way too hard and not getting to where I want to be. Since reading the book I have been hunting around for something that could create a passive income. For an investment of $50 I now have a website, toll free number and full order handling for products that pay me 50% commission. Here is my website: www.positiveherbal.com (http://www.positiveherbal.com).

I am not going to retire from this but it is a start! If anyone else is interested in doing the same, please scroll to the bottom of the webpage and click the Business Opportunity link - in the interests of full disclosure, if anyone signs up from my page I get $25. Alternatively click here: Business Opportunity (http://www.herbalbiz.com/?aid=193136)

I am thinking that with some flyers distributed locally and some internet advertising this has a chance of at least making a few hundred per month with almost no effort on my part.

Hello Kevin,
Welcome to the forum here and thanks for your posting. It looks like you are off to a fast start with many of the issues that most of us are struggling with, already sorted out. Congratulations!

Please continue to provide periodic updates!

Anyone else skeptical about this? Sounds too good to be true, which means it usually is... Is it a pyramid scheme? I don't have the time to check on it, but I'm guessing the competition will render this type of site useless as a cash flow generator. Anyone know of a good objective site where actual people give honest opinions about sites like this?

I can't really find any negative info about it, here is some more info I found: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/367315/earn_commissions_selling_natural_supplements.html

It kind of sounds like the cafepress model, where you can set up your own store with their products, they take care of all the ordering/fullfillment, and you get a commission. Anyone else know anything?

Edited to say: there is a lot of competition out there for these types of products, however.

Hi Indy2222

if you google "2007 HerbalBiz" (it's in the footer of kjmatthews new site), you'll find many many identical sites. So if you go this route, you may find it hard to differentiate yourself from the other few thousand sites that look just like yours. Also, if the search engines decides that they're not keen on this particular type of site (e.g. where's the value add?), you may struggle to get keyword ranking and search engine traffic

Thanks for the comments. To address a couple of them: this is not a pyramid scheme or MLM. It is more like an affiliate model (such as Amazon) but with a branded storefront.

Indeed there are many other people trying the same thing and there lies the marketing challenge. If you simply rely on the regular search engine listings it is going to be very difficult to stand out. The key is to use carefully targeted Pay Per Click advertising through Google or MSN etc. Alternatively, my other idea is to print flyers and distribute them locally e.g. in the parking lots of health food stores, supplement stores etc.

There definitely is a huge market for these products and, as has been pointed out, there is a lot of competition. My guess is that much of the competition is not using effective advertising and is relying on standard search engine results. My thinking is that with a 50% commission which can easily mean $100 per order there is enough profit to use PPC and other methods to drive traffic to the site.
