View Full Version : a plethora of muses.....

Hello All,

First of all, let me say that I justfinished reading 4HWW two days ago. It struck such a deep cord in me that I felt totally connected with the ideas that Tim was expressing.

You see, for years now, I have had what others would call "odd" ideas when it came to wealth creation and the ideal lifestyle. All the books I read previously (I am an avid reader) just didn't fit the model of what I wanted to do with my life.

I won't say that I'm lazy, but my motto has always been to make as much money as possible and with as little time and effort that was needed.

Although I have been self-employed for nearly two and a half years, people still think that I am lazy because I don't have or want a job.

Anyway, before reading about Tim's concepts of "muses", I have developed streams of income that require very effort or time on my part.

I make anywhere between $1500-$3500 per month. Nothing earth shattering, I know. But consider that I only put in about one hour PER WEEK to generate that income.

I don't have one muse. I have several mini-muses that create income from sales of my own products, plus also Google Adsense and affiliate product sales as well.

Tim's book really affected me (and Tim, if you are reading this, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You took all the puzzle pieces that had been floating around in my head and put them all in the right places. Thanks).

I had gotten rather complacent over the past year. When you are making enough to survive and barely putting any time into it, you start to lose focus about the bigger picture. I have new plans after reading Tim's book.

I'm looking to create some bigger muses, and actually start to travel now. I think that I have an advantage over some because like I said earlier, I have been living with my muses already. And I do everything online. In my last two and a half years, I have not had to meet or speak to a single customer. Not a single one. And that's just the way I like it. Its the way I designed it, and will continue to design it.

Being online also allows me to run my business anywhere (well, as long as I have a computer and access to the internet). I can go away for a couple months, and still run my business (its just an hour a week - I can manage that).

My only problem is that I haven't travelled yet. And I need to. Tim's book was definitely a wake up call to me. Thanks again Tim.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to this message board, and its readers.

Best wishes,

Joe

Could have written that myself :) Welcome, Joe!

May I suggest the book "Vagabonding" by Rolf Potts?

I read this a few years ago... it's AMAZING. I suggested it to my friend, she read it and left to switzerland right after finishing it ahah. It's that powerfull. She's been there for about 1 year now, travelling europe.

Tim also quotes Rolf in his book.

Anyway, read this and you will see what Vagabonding is about.

I will look at Rolf's book. I'm sure it will further my motivation.

My biggest challenge is the fact that I have 3 and 4 year old. Not to mention my ten year old who lives with her Mom (but who I see every week).

Its one thing for me to leave for a month, six months, a year, etc. Quite another for me to be away fro my kids for that long.

Any suggestions for that?

Joe

P.S. I would like to live in Australia for one year. Also, I would like to spend at least 2 months in London.

Welcome, Joe. It's really inspiring to hear your story, especially as I'm still working a "real" job!

There's another poster on this board who writes the blog Family Hack (http://www.familyhack.com/). They travel the world with their children, so you might get some pointers there.

This thread brings up something I have been wondering about.

I have seen the affiliate stuff, and product sales and even a few turnkey ebook products.

I am just not clear on the deployment and adword/adsense mechanics. Perhaps its too many hooks to the frontal lobes. But I can't seem to get past the um what do I do now phase. I even got the engine for www.articledashboard.com cuz it was free and seemed interesting.

Joe, how did you get past that?

Traveling with kids can be tough, but as I remember it its the mini retirement thing that got me more open to it. It does not have to be long term, at least not at first. Besides if you add the cost of a traveling nanny/athome teacher to your TMI target you won't have to worry about schooling and help with caring for the kids. Besides, I believe the book sited many positive reasons for having your children travel with you. I have taken my daughter on a few 'work' excursions both in the US and abroad, and I can say that it has definately opened her horizons. I can't wait to take her to a foriegn speaking country.

I scream and hit things for a living

BTW London Rocks, and there are allot of schooling options there for kids
