I'm starting to plan my mini-retirement and I was thinking of Europe. I know Europe is expensive but after doing research it turned out to be very expensive.

Eg. In the book Tim mentions that he paid US$300 a month for an enormous apartment in Berilin including phone and energy. I was searching around on craigslist but couldn't manage to find a price close to this. The rent starts at 500euros (US$640) a month and on average are about 600euros (US$760) plus. These apartments are no where close to enormous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't seem to find these prices mentioned in the book.

Well depends on which city you go to in Europe. Also the book was written a few year ago, real estate prices did go up a bit in between.

In western europe capital cities count 500 to 700eur rent per month (between 800 and 1200 for Paris and London). In eastern europe, according to the country you can get something slightly cheaper (between 300 and 500 in Hungary, Romania or Czech Repulic).
