View Full Version : Considering forming an entrepreneur's group with a few of you

I want to put this idea out there and see what kind of response it gets. I'm considering making a group of a limited number of entrepreneurs. 10 of us would stay in touch every week (or every two weeks, or month, or whatever) and make a posting of something we could use another set of hands with. The idea is that we help each other out by only committing a minimal amount of time (5 minutes or less per person, per week = less than one hour total). Perhaps we help each other out with some quick reviews on something, or to post a comment on our blog, or going over sales copy, or comparing notes- whatever it might be, so long as it fits the time criteria, is based roughly around business, and isn't morally reprehensible.

Apart from this, I'm thinking once per month we set a time and all chat with each other (for an hour or less). We'll share our ideas and stories, set our goals so we can be held accountable, or possibly share contacts, etc.

So, if this gets the response that I hope it does, there would need to be some rules. To avoid conflicts of interest, we should only have 1 entrepreneur per niche (shouldn't be a problem, I hope). And, in the case that more than 10 people are interested that fit the bill, the 10 selected will be the ones who are farthest along with their business, as well as definitively spare the time.

So, if you're interested or have questions, respond. A simple yes or no is also fine, and after perhaps a week or so I'll sift through the responses and we'll put together the group and I'll get the infrastructure set.

This sounds awesome. Hope to be in the group, even though I'm only about to start my business.

I'd defintely be interested in learning more. I'd like to know the full structure before fully committing but sounds like a great idea.

Glad to see a decent response so far.

For those that were interested in the format, I'll quickly go over what I have in mind so far:

Essentially I'd just set up a site where we can post on a private password protected forum- this is where we'd communicate and post what we want/need from the other members, as well as confirming that we did what the others asked for. This is ideal because no matter how busy we are we can still accomplish our goals since we don't need to be on simultaneously to take action for our deeds. We would make our requests perhaps over the weekend, and self monitor ourselves to make sure nobody is asking too much or more often than they should, and that we are also following through.

And, when we have our scheduled monthly chats I can get a private instant message room going on the same site so there is no delay and we can all feed off the ideas of each other.

Hey Alex, really liking the format you have for the start-up. Maybe we could throw in a bio when we "register" like what were working on as our own muse, where in the world we are, etc., just to give some basic info about everyone in the group; could also allow some people to ask things specific of others in terms of what they do or where they are.

I'd be interested in this as well. Please keep me updated at anoop.kansupada@gmail.com Thanks Alex, and great idea.

Thsi sounds great.

I can give SEO and web design advcie (and have done so in this forum before)

Being located in Switzerland, scheduled calls would probably have to go without me due to time differences and such.

Well, most people apparently are not able to receive private messages (or chose not to), so hopefully you all check back here. I just sent out a mass message to all who were interested, so I'll reproduce it here. You'll have to insert my email address symbols- I didn't want to post the full address as this is a publicly searchable forum and I don't want bots sending me tons of spam.

So, send me an email so we can get the ball rolling.

Hello everyone,

This is a mass message to all those who expressed interest in forming the entrepreneur group mentioned in the Automation forum.

Send me an email with your name (both the forum screenname, and your real life name), what stage your current business is in (or if you've opened a business before in the past), a rough break down of your expertise and muse niche, where you're located in the world, and any obligations or things that could potentially keep you from being an active member of our group. I would definitely appreciate if the emails were kept short and to the point :)

My email is AMoenEnterprises at gmail dot com

Once I compile the list and we figure out the final group we'll get started.

Have a good day,
Alex

Alright. About 14 people expressed interest between this, email, and personal messaging. However, I've only been contacted by 7 of these people. Although I have no problem starting the group with so few people, I'd really like to get an email from the last few of you, so that we can insure the group is as strong as possible.

On a side note, my email went down for a couple days and was phished- hopefully not because of this post, but it's a strange coincidence how I've never had that problem and that I've also never publicly displayed my email before. So, I'm not looking to get it phished again, so I won't keep bumping this.

I've heard from:
ermballa
FatNomad
weaseldog
Seth121
MuseTester
DevinFord
MuseMick

If you see people from the other accounts that expressed interest, go ahead and give them a reminder to email me. Or, if there's someone else you want to join that hasn't messaged on here, go ahead and point them in my direction. Otherwise, I'll begin setting up the forum and site in the next few days.

Hello,

I just came across this post. Is it too late to get involved in this mastermind group? If so, were there several others who did not get the opportunity who may be interested in starting a similar group? If it is not too late then I would like to join up. Thanks,

-presto

Send me an email. I'm still collecting the last couple emails, and then I'll begin putting together the site and forum.
