My muse - I am wanting to start a on line directory business for jobs - it is a service industry and I note that Tim mentions in his book to stay clear of these - so now I am a little worried - has anyone else done something like this?
I thought of using ad words etc to test to see if the site is accessed and what wording works best - ? do you think this will work
Any comments / suggestions would be appreciated

I'm no expert, but one quote from the 4HWW that stands out to me is "Go niche or go broke." It seems like a broad job search site would have a lot of competition from some big time players (CareerBuilder, Monster, etc.)

If I were you I would make a job search directory focused on a niche. For example "Jobs for Insurance Agents", "Jobs in the Culinary Field", "Jobs for Horse Trainers", etc. As a reference, check out http://www.mandy.com it's a job search site that focuses on the film/video industry. Spend some time and research a few niches and narrow it down to 5 with low competition and a high amount of searches. From there, buy a domain name for each of the 5 and run an adwords campaign for a week or two and conclude which would be the best to pursure.

But before you do any of this, how do you plan on monetizing your site?
