Hoping someone can shed some light on the following:

How would one go about finding a VA that could be utilized for posting to forums and/or blogs in order to promote a muse?

I know I can post a project on elance, but I mean after that step.

In other words, where is the VA going to find the appropriate forums/blogs? What guidance would I need to provide to the VA? What is a reasonable amount of time per day or per week for posting to forums/blogs (with the intent of promoting my muse)? What about language capability? Is this a major concern?

Is anyone on this forum currently using a VA to post for them on forums/blogs to promote their muse? If yes, can you share your experiences.

Thanks!

I would recommend giving the VA a list of topics/keywords that they should use at search engines and in Technorati to find forums and blogs to post on.

I would also recommend having them download the Google toolbar and instructing them not to waste their time on blogs or forums with a page rank of 5 or lower, only 6-10.

A reasonable amount of time? I know bloggers who spend 1-2 hours a day themselves doing this. I hope you can extrapolate from there.

I would also think that language capacity would be pretty important here. I would require any VAs posting in my name to be very fluent in written english. If they mess up, you are the one looking stupid, so cut down the risk as much as reason.

Good luck,
Rebecca

Thank you for the excellent suggestions, Rebecca.

I'm still a bit unclear on one thing: With respect to blog/forum rules, many (most? all?) forums prohibit posts that are blatantly commercial. In other words, on this forum I think it would be frowned upon if I simply submitted a post that said: "Hey folks, when you need to buy a gift go to web site 'x' and buy my stuff."

So is the purpose to work mention of my web site and product into the actual discussion (when responding to a question, for example) or are you simply relying on the signature block?

My apologies if this sounds really basic, but I'm very new to this whole concept of blogging for dollars.

Thanks.
