I had the idea to not have any links on my sales page, not to loose any potential customers. However someone gave me the idea to put a few partners on my site, for a revenue share. Their services are real life rental services, whereas my site sells a CD, so we are not in competition, we are both in the same niche market. I think it's a good idea, but what do you think, should you have any outside links?

it depends on how you want to monetize your site. Are the other people going to be placing links to your CDs from their site?

I'd try selling just the CDs first, so that way you at least have the numbers for comparisons to be made and to measure the actual growth (or loss) of revenue with your various methods.

Links are an intrinsic part of the web, and you generally shouldn't be afraid of them. But it also depends on what you're trying to achieve with your website. If you're planning to pull traffic in through advertisement and instantly try to sell them your stuff, then of course you want to focus on your own sales letter and not on anything else. But if you're aiming for a more organic, returning readership, maybe through a blog, I think it's a bad idea to try and "avoid" outlinks.

Remember that when you post a link to a website, the webmaster can see that they get some hits from your site. This can be a great way to get the attention of other blogs in your niche - maybe they will link back to you some other time, if you write interesting stuff.

If you do decide to add the links, be sure to have them open in a new window rather than go directly from your page to a new page.

Sometimes folks get so distracted they forget how they got where they are and never go back to the original reason for their search.

On my blog I have external links to do trackbacks and get attention.

However on sales page and landing page, only internal links.

All external links open in a new frame.
