OK... I'd just like a little clarification to make sure I'm looking at this the correct way.
My keywords don't come anywhere close to fitting the example of Tim's Speed Reading product. The best keyword combination only has a monthly Overture count of 1730, and the tail drops off quickly.
Using averages and the musemath formula, I could expect .926 sales a month with this single keyword. Of course, I would hope that since my competition is all non-specific from the searches I've done, my CTR could be higher than the 1% I used to calculate the result. Given the related keywords and their results along with my pricing and costs, I could live with a CTR of 5%+. However, I don't know how realistic that CTR is.
The problem is that to continue down this road, I have to rely purely on my gut instinct rather than industry averages. I'm wondering if I might be more productive taking a couple of steps back and re-thinking my niche.
Are higher CTR's realistic enough to spend the time and money on setting up a trial site/PPC campaign, or would my time be better spent with a product that better fits the "mold?"
