Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of finalizing the hire of 2 people to write content for me. These are Filipinos who work for me either part time or full time. It typically costs about $300 / month for a good full time person to do work for me.
In any case, I had a LOT of submissions and quite a few of the writing samples are above par. Not very many are perfect in terms of grammar, but if you need someone to do link building for you that involves writing some articles and posting them to blogs that you build, for income links, or to do article marketing or you under a pen name, etc ... these people can do it.
Anyway, I always feel bad when I invest time in interviewing a person, find out that they are GOOD, but can't offer them a job.
So - if you are SERIOUS about being an employer to a good Filipino employee and you have a need for content writers, please reply here and then I'll be happy to PM you some of their contact information when I finish my hiring.
FYI, I have found these people either through OnlineJobs.ph or BestJobs.ph and I won't send out contact info for people who I thought were crap writers. Only the decent ones.
Also, please don't reply to this thread unless you really are serious about hiring a permanent employee. These are not people looking to freelance. They want JOBS. They want a job with security, not someone with a project that leads to them being fired when it's done.

A forum of entrepreneurs launching start-up businesses probably isn't the best place to look for job security.

Dave - your reply is completely useless. Thanks for wasting everyone's time. In case you hadn't noticed, there are some people here who have been successful.
Man, I usually avoid flaming anyone, but I'm being HELPFUL here and you're opening your mouth to spew out crap. It's pretty simple. If you'd be a crappy employer, ignore the thread.

Chris,
If I needed content writers, I wouldn't be a "crappy employer", but I also wouldn't commit to offering job security to individuals you consider "good" but not good enough to hire. Maybe that's just me though, and others here are willing to offer job security to content writers you passed on hiring.
In any case, best of luck to you, and I hope someone else here did find your post useful. If you'd like to respond to this, I'll let you have the last word, so as not to waste anymore of my time or anyone else's time here.
Best,
Dave

Hi,
I have been searching for content writers and was just going to post asking if anyone here had recommendations. I would love to get your recommendations. Thanks! Perfect timing!

wheelerw,
Stay tuned for a few days while I sort out who had good writing samples versus those who didn't. Even today I got a few people who replied to me and one of them had me saying to myself "gee, I should have waited one more day before offering the job to someone". I was surprised by the quality of some of these folks.
Dave - good enough for some tasks doesn't mean good enough for all tasks. Not all writing jobs require equal talent. Besides that, there were MANY good candidates I could have hired. I had to pick two. Your original comment added zero value and you should have just stayed off the thread, simple as that. No offence intended. My original reply was harsh. Sorry.
Rest of you: Reply below if you want any contact info from people. Also, if you have questions about how to find people, how to pay them, how to work with them, let me know.

If you hire a content writer, make sure you have the money to pay them, otherwise just freelance.
I can get great articles for $10 for 700 words......A hired employee at $200 per month x 20 work days a month = $10 a day.
I'll have to look into this.
Thanks Frozen Canuck.

Guys - pay attention to what networkmementics said. If you are going to hire someone full time you need to be ready to have a monthly commitment to paying them. For me, I didn't take this step until I had the cash flow coming from my online activities, so it's not coming out of my usual personal budget. It's self funded. But if you are thinking of reaching into your regular budget to make a go of online work, be prepared to spend $5k or so (a year of paying your person, plus some other tools you'll want).
To give you guys an idea of what I'm usually getting, $350 will get you a pretty good writer. $250 will get you someone who has decent writing skills but not perfect grammar. Even that person at $250 will expect to see a raise at some point before too long, so think about paying $400 longer term ... I think that's the way to do your math.
This is not all about price ... it's about having someone you can count on as a permanent member of your team. Someone you can throw new learning at, and have them learn + deliver.
Imagine having a couple of guys who can write for you, but then when you need them to learn how to do split testing and manage your adwords campaign, they can learn it, do it, and keep on top of it for you. This is what's possible when you have employees rather than contract people working from elance.

Another thing,
For people you hire:
1) You need a training system in place (Not just to train them, but a SYSTEM, in case they quit.
2) You need to be able to keep them busy. Most people who post here wouldn't be able to keep a writer busy AND happy.
3) You need to insulate your staff from certain parts of your business so that they don't take off with it.
Thanks for the note on raise expectations.

I'm interested as to where you got these people? I have one VA now and I need to add another so my primary can concentrate on lead generation (her specialty).
I have two Q'S
1: Where did you get the writers from?
2: Can I get one for 300 USD who can also do light VA tasks?
You can email me through my site vtamethod.com

I got PMs that were sent, for all who sent them. I just haven't gotten around to replying yet. Sorry.
I got my guys from OnlineJobs.ph and BestJobs.ph (Filipino job sites). Yes, for $300 USD per month you can get someone who communicates well in English and will do a pretty good job of whatever you need done.
I echo what someone else wrote. You need a SYSTEM in place to train them on the job you need them to do. I use Jing to make training videos for them. Quick videos of me doing / explaining are what I find work best.
