Hello to all, I hope you can give me some advice. I believe I have come up with a hair product for which there is a substantial market; I would like to find a reputable but smallish company to develop this product.

I would need them to be able to first reverse engineer an existing product then change certain ingredients based on my input. I'd especially like a company with expertise in creating organic products that mimic the results of chemical products.

Any ideas?

I appreciate any advice/experiences you could share.

Best,
Michelle

www.thomasnet.com

They have a list of companies that do what you are looking for. Just browse the different catagories and pick top 5 or so, then get qoutes from all of them.

Best of Luck!

Thank you, Drew. I've been on thomasnet.com and there are certainly many resources - so many that I was hoping someone who had done something similar might have some specific recommendations. That said, I have taken down the numbers of a few and am contacting them as we speak. Ciao for now,
Michelle

I've been in the beauty biz for 20+ years. What you're looking for is a lab that does "custom formulation" haircare products. (That's your Google keywords.)

I don't mean to discourage you, but I will disclose that my team and I are already in the private lable skin care business, and we will NOT go into haircare products. The margins aren't worthwhile--especially when you get into custom formulation. You're talking $100k minimum startup, huge order minimums, need for distribution warehouses, etc. Now and again, I confer with them because "oh, wouldn't it be neat if we had hair products." I'm always met with a resounding "No way in hell! It's not profitable."

Custom manufactured haircare products are completely opposite the 4HWW model.

That said, if you'd like to create your own organic skincare brand (private labeled, not custom formulation) I can hook you up with my colleagues. You can start a private-labled line for just a couple grand, and the order minimums are low. Send me a private message with your name and email, and I can have a rep contact you with an info pack.

Thank you for your feedback. I will keep all of that in mind and rethink my "muse" :(

Any ideas for who does private labeling for hair care? Skin just isn't my "thing" whereas hair has always been; I'm trying to find something that inspires me.

Gracias,
Michelle

Sorry, but I don't have a good resource for private label haircare. :(

Wildsoul - I found something that may work and want to go ahead and test. I went onto your site and am building a test site as we speak! Quick question, how can I "test" purchases a la 4-hour workweek if I can only have the store in trial mode?

thanks!
M.
