View Full Version : Who's using Brickwork?
I just got a quote back from brickwork to do some simple transcription, but I was quoted 25 dollars per hour. A little out of the range of what I wanted.
Are people getting the 4-15 dollar range from Brickwork as Tim stated in the book?

they gave me 2'200 USD / month for a full-time ressource - request was special (engineer, speaking&writing French) which translates into around 13 3/4 USD / h . Which is BTW much lower than anything you can get here (Switzerland), but indeed high enough that one has to plan carefully how to use the ressource. I am actually still hesitating if we should go with them.
I'm wondering if there are some tips and tricks that I'm missing or if I'm better off using something like YMII for low level business tasks.
I just shot off an email to both Vivek Kulkarni and my representative. I'll see if they can shed any light on the matter.
Quick Update:
After getting quotes from getfriday.com (YMII) and brickwork, I tried out elance.com and was amazed at the quotes I'm getting there. The price range is much closer to what I expected. So far I'm pleased.

Awesome!
I'm also using elance at the moment.
I've got about 15 bids, most of which are very vague and most are within my budget.
Do you know how the payment works there?
My concern is that they might bid low and then jack the price up later due to "unseen project requirements" or something similar.
Thanks!
I have no idea how payment works, but I'll give you an update in the next couple of days as I'm moving ahead with my project.
As for the vagueness you're getting I'm have the opposite. Most of the bids go into specific detail and have completed sample work for me that is very suitable.
I have to say, this process is quite interesting to me. I manage a number of people at work and getting them to do either new tasks or tedious tasks is near impossible. Even if I can delegate such tasks, the work is so abysmal that I needn't bother delegating ever again. Whereas what I'm seeing so far is a complete 180. People are actually competing for work and they can (potentially) do faster, cheaper AND better. This looks VERY promising.
