I have an idea for an ebook, but I'm wondering what's the best way to deliver it to them?
I'm looking for a cheap, preferably free, code or program, but if not then whatever.

Ibanez,
I've been looking into this as well, because in order to have a secure payment/download you'll want some good software to keep both you and your customers safe.
The best I've found so far is 1shoppingcart.com
Here's a link to their features: (Scroll down to Digital Delivery for more info on ebook delivery.)

If anyone knows of anything better, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks!

E-Junkie (http://www.e-junkie.com/?r=7779) has a pretty nice setup for delivering ebooks and they have a FatFree cart system that works in a very cool Web 2.0 fashion. Check out the demo on their site.
The idea of their system is that you upload the content to their network, and provide links to buy that content on your site. Much like selling things with PayPal. Then they shuttle the buyer through either your Paypal/GoogleCheckOut/Authorize.net accounts. Once the buyer has paid for the Ebook then they send them a secure download link which you can set to expire after a certain number of downloads or time period.
I am currently working on my muse using their site, mainly because it is so simple I don't have to worry too much about the coding of the site and I can concentrate on the content, and as we all know "Content is King" =)
Oh ya, they are also pretty cheap, since it bases the monthly cost on how many products you have more so than how much they are being sold for.

I just signed up and put up my first e-report on lulu.com for free. You upload the file, cover artwork and advertising copy and they handle the hosting, and they handle the payment and delivery of your content.
Here is my e-report:

I also put together a "commercial" and uploaded to YouTube:
