In 4 Hour work week (Page 16), Tim talks about outsourcing manufacturing of BrainQUICKEN. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I am interested in manufacturing some type of either supplement, or caffeine product, but am unsure where to start looking. I found a few links through www.thomasnet.com, but those seemed to be more for re-branding existing products.
I am pretty sure Tim would not give away all the answers on how to do this, or else we would all be creating supplements. If anyone has any ideas, let me know

I have some experience but I went a slightly different route the Tim recommends. I became a partner with a supplement drop hip program. Customers go to my site, order, and they take care of the rest. The downfall to this is the profit margins are smaller.

Chris,
How is your website going? is it something you setup since reading the 4 hour work week or had running before?
Hi There,
When I originally bought the book the offer I received came with a freebie that supposedly is on it's way. Search for this on Google “How To Make A Fast Fortune With Your Own Health And Wellness Products Business.” and you'll see the blog where it's mentioned. Hope this helps!

It is something I set up after reading the book. I have made 3 sales after going live Thursday. I expect it will take me about a year to get my TMI where I want it.

Cool. Yeah i would say maybe start a new one. Yeah i have been looking into doing one of two things a specific line of nutritional products developed for me or two a series of ebooks and audio CD for the industry I am currently in. Either way I would be using PPC as my primary source or marketing to start.
Lets us know how the results go!

I provide payment processing for progressivehealth.com (http://www.progressivehealth.com) They have a great affiliate program. Try it out. You can gain valuable knowledge about the industry and when you build up enough commissions you could look into starting your own product.

Hi,
How much did it help? I just ordered it, but I'd have to have someone interpret it for me (I'm deaf).
I have a Human Growth Hormone release product I want to get manufactured. The existing products out there are expensive and can cause the runs. Mine would be better - once I found a manufacturer. ThomasNet doesn't seem to have supplement manufacturers (I looked under other -> Food/Food Products).
On page 163, Tim recommends www.expoeast.com and www.expowest.com. It looks like these expos for pre-existing products for sale, not manufacturers.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Warder,
If you or anyone else on the forum needs a good quality source of wholesale health supplements,I can help you. Just email me your Fax # and I'll send info
on what I have. Or if you know the specific product name or ingredients,we can go from there.Often times you'll see many of the same type products in the marketplace under different names. Usually the name of the product is
copyrighted, but not the ingredients. Many manufacturers have a supply of products for weight loss, energy, pain relief, etc.in stock And will private label them under your brand name. For example,if you knew the ingredients in Tim's
Brainquicken product, you could have a manufacturer produce the exact same formula, but you would have to call it a different brand name than his. Hope this helps.

I've been a naturopathic physician with 2 clinics
and countless people healed using alternative
medicine therapies. Loved the work, but
talk about burn out!
So it's on to bigger and better things!
Or is that work smarter not harder?!
I've been seeing a continuous thread of folks
who want to try to make money in the
nutritional supplement industry.
Let me warn you folks as an insider who has
been in the field for over 25 years...
it'll take you a lo-o-ong time to reach your
TMI. Plus, an insider secret, the FDA is
trying to made nutritionals as 'prescriptions'
from M.D.'s and N.D.'s only as of 2008.
If you all remember, Tim mentioned that
if he could do it again, he would start with
informational products.
Start here!
There's hardly no one doing ebooks, CD's
audio's, DVD's in the alternative medicine
field. I know. I attend trade shows constantly
to keep up in the industry - from anti-aging
to disease prevention, companies are focusing
on selling supplements.
Informational products are the way to go.
I'm putting my 3 books in pdf and selling
them as ebooks, but after reading the
great ideas here I will also make them
into Mp3's and put them on youtube.
-Great health!

Grrrrr. Seriously? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!
I also asked Tim awhile back about something else he did not mention- liability insurance. You need this for a consumable and it is expensive!
Sigh. Don't get me started on the FDA!

The FDA has always been trying to place restrictions on supplements but theres huge resistence from the supplement lobby and ordinary americans. People like having the option and making health decisions themselves. The FDA/gov't can usually win against individual supplements like ephedra but actually putting places like vitamin shoppe and gnc out of business? thats going to be a long hard fight and will not be determined by 2008.
codex is not coming here in the next couple years... although im sure theyll try again. i think they had a meeting about it in january actually...

What is codex?
I was thinking, doctor's offices would be overwhelmed with requests for prescriptions if that happened! Even among a population that largely does not use natural supplements - I can think of several examples - homeopathic teething tablets for babies are very popular - st johns wort - etc etc...and doctor's offices are overwhelmed already!
Oh the irony...

Codex is the name for the EU regulations against supplements. They have extremely strict laws outside of the US and we're really fortunate that so far we've been able to maintain the right to decide for ourselves. Even basic things like protein powders are not sold overseas.
There are MANY supplements that are very beneficial and economical for people to use from joint supplements, to st. johns wort, red yeast rice (which is what cholesterol meds are based off of) etc.
The only major change that I know of coming up is a requirement of a 1-800 number on all supplement labels so that people can report any adverse reactions, which goes into effect Jan 2008.

If you go here you can show your support for your right to choose your own nutritional supplements.

I personally enjoy being able to purchase protein powder, and BCAA's without a perscription. I'd like it to stay that way.

The whole idea of mandatory "prescriptions" themselves is just a form of government tyranny. So I'm with you.
