I really am eager to get Adwords going, the person who is doing it suggested to wait until after Jan. 1, my product is a CD, a guide much like a book. Books don’t stop selling do they? I think I know my market, filmmakers, I don’t think they stop looking for educational resources now, do you think it would be OK or is she right, to wait until people are back from vacation or spending time with the holidays. She knows Adwords and runs many campaigns, I’m just eager to start selling the CD.

I have completely halted all my ad campaigns until after the holidays.

I've been asking the same thing in another post here, and no one's addressed it yet. I can tell you from my experience the reason I'm asking: on Dec. 16th my affiliate sales of downloadable material (ebooks) ground to a complete and total halt.

I'd love for someone else's insight on this. I can tell you from my experience that I'm not making many digital sales these days.

I have another business (digitall items sales) which I've run for over two years now. I haven't noticed a dropoff at this time of year in the past, but truth be told, this is the first year I've been paying attention. And when I do pay attention, I notice a sharp drop around mid December and days going by with no sales.

It's possible that this time of year, people are for the most part out and about, shopping at real stores, getting gifts for others, not for themselves... quite yet!

New years is a great time to launch a new muse. But it sounds like you're like me.... itching to get it moving NOW!

Would love to hear other opinions also and good luck with your muse which sounds cool.

what is your niche? who's your market?

logically I'm sure it make sense, I just am itching to get my muse off the ground and get my life back.

If you are still testing your muse, you will not get an accurate test at this time of the year. so I would advise against beginning any tests at this point - you will not get reliable consumer data.

If you have ALREADY PASSED the initial testing though, it is fine to advertise. Most likely, people are looking for stuff that they want, so they will click through, but will typically not buy. Unless, of course, your product makes a good gift idea. My product does not make a good gift idea because consumers would be embarrassed to ask for my product for xmas. For that reason, my sales have been cut by a factor of 3 during the holiday season.

But everyone knows that you shouldn't buy yourself anything in December! You have to wait until after the holidays! January is the time when those December clicks turn into conversions!

Jackson--For details on what I'm doing, see the thread I started on my "Mini-Muse" a bit earlier. Re: getting life back, I totally hear you, I'm itching for 2010 to roll around now myself!

Savetheworld--Thanx so much for that insight. It seems to fit with what others have told me and what I've experienced with my first tests. (Also my other digital goods businesses which are healthy year-round seem to drop off around this time) I've pulled all adwords campaigns as of a few days ago, it was just too depressing--what I've noticed is plenty of traffic (which means spending my $$$ on the clicks), and no conversions! Expensive lesson I've learned, but I'm totally psyched for the new year.

Traffic got high and diminished right after christmas. I think it's linked to the holiday and post holiday season. I am impatient for January !
