What do you guys think of buying silver, mirror tape in bulk, and selling through ebay, amazon, etc?
I only found two legit sites that sell it right now, and both are way overpriced and exorbadently expensive on the shipping. (See here: http://www.identi-tape.com/deco-mirror.html)
I would market the site through videos/pictures of its potential uses: making paper mirrors, quick fixes for broken mirrors, taping on your back while biking/running at night, and much, much more.
So, good idea? Where to start? Any advice?
I'm no expert by any stretch, but I think you may be taking the wrong approach in hoping for demand of your product. You need to define your target market, then create or market a product for them. You may have already done this, but it wasn't evident who your primary target market is from your post.
If you plan on marketing to bikers/runners you need to evaluate whether or not you have something worth selling. Are you an avid biker or runner? Would you buy this product in lieu of reflective strips or clothing? You should probably stick with marketing products that solve problems or fill needs for social or professional groups you belong to, so you understand your market.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but a 2 minute search found this:
http://tinyurl.com/foiltape
http://www.drillspot.com/products/154250/Nashua_330_All_Weather_Foil_Tape
http://www.amazon.com/Nashua-322-2-Aluminum-Foil-Tape/dp/B000LDINSC
Sounds good. You could expand into other related products like velcro tape, all sorts of 3M specialty tapes, double sided fire resistant hurricane proof foam tape, reflective tape, maybe even custom printed packing tape with company logos. This last one might actually be a good muse in itself.
