Zombies!!

This is actually a serious post.

One of my strong interests is Zombies. I'm talking zombie movies, zombie video games, zombie board games, zombie comic books, the whole 9 yards. I'm already somewhat of an expert, but I could become a flat out guru if I ever put my mind to it.

I do believe there are others out there that would be very interested in some sort of weekly internet show, live or recorded, discussing all of these subjects. The problem I run into, with this and my other passions, is how to monetize this? Of the top of my head, there is no information product that can really work for this interest.

Any advice? I'm pretty sure I can put together a good show and have interesting content, but then what?

Test it on youtube!

If you can develop a fanbase of subscribers, you can create become a youtube partner and earn money off your videos. And depending on you, you can create merchandise focused on your show.

I actually have a partnered youtube channel with 5,000 subscribers, and I tell you the adsense partner revenue is comical at this stage in the game.

The main problem is that it will require weekly updating which zaps automation, so maybe you can put together some sort of zombie encyclopedia with real research on zombie lore and sell it as a series of episodes or e-book.

You have near zero potential to monitarize a show about Zombies. It just is not going to happen. It is like the gaming blog I write. Made 25 cents from ad words in two years.

Now, is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! Get cracking on that show. It will be an awesome experience. Do what you love and enjoy. make your money elsewhere.

Can you make money with the zombie niche? Probably. I know a bunch of people in the Death Guild who would be part of your target market. Using sponsors and affiliates, you could probably make a decent income. The internet is full of stores looking for more people to sell and promote their stuff, and the undead niche is not getting any smaller. Just look at how huge Twilight was. Google vampire fangs or colored contacts (a huge affiliate sales machine).

Go back to the drawing board and expand your idea. Put what you want to do in one section and how to accomplish that. Them make a section on how to make money. Tie in a blog. Look at all the stuff Tim gets for free. Vibram shoes, all kinds of health products, the list is long. You could get that same stuff from suppliers in your market. Go to them with a youtube show that has 30,000 subscribers and that is a huge deal. Get some samples. Talk it up on the show, then sell as an affiliate.

Is it a muse? Not really. It is far more time intensive. Is that a bad thing? probably not at all.

What about board game ? roleplaying game ? murder n mystery game ? online games ?

That could be movies / videos on youtube, that could be fancy dress, fake material for LARP and all that sort of stuff.
