Very good article. I certainly agree with #1 and would do well to get a library card as my house is filling with books. Hulu and youtube are an excellent alternative to television as you can eliminate commercials and pick out the nuggets of info you want.

Great point Tim - I find the books I want online and reserve them so they are delivered to my local branch. This way I do my"shopping" from my computer and just run in to pick them up when they arrive. And if I really like a book, then I can buy it.
Any good advice on how to find those nuggest on Hulu and YouTube? Do you just keyword search? Thanks!

Number 5 doesn't really belong there. It should be replaced with newspapers, which is number 1.
If you're having a hard time finding books from the library (language, recent, etc.) you can always buy them from the bookstore, read and return.

Hmmm. The only thing newspapers do is make the news 18 hours old, so we have a different opinion there.
On the flip side I don't watch TV. I stopped about 7 years ago. Lately I have been watching a nature program with the family. My son loves the show (Sekai Fushigi Hakken for those who know it), and have changed my opinion on that. Educational programming, and stuff that opens you eyes is pretty good.
I Loooove watching good documentaries, especially on how people do stuff like building bridges and manufacuring.
