This may not have to do with automated business structures but I figured I might get some help from this forum.

I have just talked to a guy who has purchased a franchise for selling a line of high-demand sports figurines that have absolutely no competition in the United States.

The items are high-quality and will be distributed through large chain stores.

The products have lots of potential and he expects them to be a hit. In fact the guy quit his job as marketing director of an important airline to start his own business selling this stuff.

Since he's my friend and knows nothing about the internet, he's giving me the opportunity to sell the products on the web but only to companies and investors. We're talking about orders from 5.000 USD and up.

Any advice on how I could market this product line to companies through the internet? I'm a web designer/merchant and have used the internet to sell to consumers before but never to companies.

I figured companies don't look at Google ads like consumers do, do they? So, what's the best marketing approach in this case?

Should I just search the web looking for companies that may be interested such as sports memorabilia stores and then contact them directly? Any other ideas?

I really need to take advantage of this opportunity since I'm having a tough time trying to survive through the recession. Any advice will be very appreciated. :)

I'd use the Stephen Key method: call companies rather than.email, etc. Get your one sentence benefit statement ironed out and use that to make a good sell sheet. Call companies that have product lines your items would fit nicely with, and ask the gatekeeper to "help you" Both Tim and Stephen say those two words are crucial. Once speaking to the right person, give your one line benny statement and ask for permission to send them a sell sheet. Don't waste both of your time giving tons of detail they can get from a sell sheet you don't want them feeling like they are being hassled by a telemarketer.

If you want to outsource the footwork, let me know. I could use the extra cash.

Good luck, keep us updated.

Great advice. I'll follow the same for my business. Thanks a lot for sharing.
