Opinions on Blog Template Concept

If you guys have a chance, can you tell me what you think of this blog template concept (http://thehackensack.blogspot.com/2009/09/template-concept-for-new-blog.html) floated by my designers? The new blog isn't going to be a muse per se, but I intend to use it to help drive traffic to the muses. You can see the name and logo of the first muse on that dummy template.

Looks great if it was free. There are thousands of really great free template out there.

Not free, but most of the cost is going to the logo design. The template is semi-custom.
