I have an idea for a t-shirt website. I'm sure this is a pretty popular muse, so I was hoping someone has done it (other than the examples in the book on page 166) and could give me a few tips. Before I go buying shopping cart software and making hundreds of shirts, I want to test to design/idea. Is this a good way to go about it?
Build a one page lander with a title that says something like "coming soon X tshirts" and then have two of my designs on the page so they can see it. At the bottom of the page have a button that says something like "Please notify me via email when these are in stock". This will take them to an email signup form.
Then i'll drive traffic to the landing page via adwords, and if something like 25% of the people submit their email I'll consider it a success and move forward.
1. is this a good test?
2. What percentage of signups is good? I picked 25% but who knows?
3. Would you put price or anything on the lander?
4. How many clicks should I drive to the site for a good test? 200?
