Aside from Tim's book, what book would you most recommend for insight into successfully marketing/promoting a new business? I've seen Seth Godin's "Purple Cow" mentioned here. Any other suggestions? I'm trying to see which name comes up the most.

The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing - Al Ries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_22_Immutable_Laws_of_Marketing). Tim recommends that one. It really is out of date though, and I think that some of the points are just wrong, but it is worth the read.

The Greatest Salesman in the World - Og Mandino (http://www.ogmandino.com/). This book is awesome. One of Leo Babauta's (Zen Habits Blog) favorites. I am going to make a point of looking for some of his other stuff next time I am in the US.

The Strategy Paradox - Michael Raynor (http://www.michaelraynor.com/). This book is awesome. One of my top 5 favorite books of all time, and Mike Raynor actually publishes and responds to his own email. After reading the book, he has also become a personal mentor of mine.

Some of the other must reads authors who don't write directly about sales are:
Dale Carnegie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Win_Friends_and_Influence_People)
Earl Nightengale
Napoleon Hill (Think and grow Rich is in the Public Domain, get it here (http://www.soilandhealth.org/03sov/0304spiritpsych/030413.Hill.Think.and.Grow.Rich.pdf))
Robert Kiyosaki
Harvey Mackay
Robert Kennedy

Basically anything by any of those authors is well worth the time to read twice.

I checked out the Ries book in the book store after Tim's recommendation. I agree with your assessment. Familiar with Dale Carnegie and Napoleon Hill as well, but I'm excited to check out Raynor and Mandino now, who are new to me. Thanks again.
